Ever notice that the women portrayed in women's magazines and fashions are super-thin, boy-like body types but women portrayed in men's magazines are curvy and shapely?

In other words, women are striving for the boy-like body type that society says looks good while men are drooling over the shapely variety.

I think if more women realized this, they'd spend less time trying to get that boy-ish figure and more time working their curves!

To me most models are UGLY. I am more attracted to the so-called "plus-sized" women you see in clothing catalogs. I think they look more natural.

But that's just appearances. Personality is more important to me also. I do like some slimmer women by their personalities.

true. but there are some guys that like slim girls. it's not a question of boyish vs curvy. because ive seen plenty of heavier women that literally have no curve, or shape. and ive also seen some slender women with a curvy body like the victorias secret models. and really, it all boils down to if you yourself like your body or not. a guy's opinion is just that. his opinion.

By "curves", they often mean "big boobs and a tiny waist". Which is just as hard to obtain. For my body shape, I can starve myself down to model-size. But I'll never be "curvy" unless I get implants.

I would think "curves" means any female shape that is not like a boy.

A boy's figure can be feminine but has no curves. This is the type of woman the fashion industry has stuck a dress on and called it "ideal".

Not all men like curves. And fat once again, does not equal curvy.

Marissa Miller may be slender, but she has a defined waist, boobs, and hips. That is curvy. Kim Kardashian may I suspect, lie about her weight, but she is also curvy. It's about bust-waist-hip ratios, and not about the number on the scale.

Being a size 14, 5'4', and 145 lbs. or an 'average' woman, does not mean one is nessecarily curvy. They could be, but simply being bigger than a runway model does not make one curvy.

I personally, like the super-skinny, very narrow petite look. I'm sure I'd have to lie on a therapist's couch for a while to get to the reason why, but I do. If you gave me the choice between having this body:

and this body:

I'd choose Nicole's. It's not a dog on Kim, I just prefer a very (perhaps too) slender shape.

If even Nicole Richie can get dates (I love Nicole, FTR), clearly not all men like or look for a curvy figure.

I'm sure now the Powers that Be will delete Nicole's picture given that's thinspo is so definately wrong, despite the fact that Kim herself may or may not be all plastic now (leave the nose and face alone!) and could inspire people to go the Heidi Montag route.

totally agree. in fact, sometimes if you are too fat. it will obscure your waist to hip ratio. making a girl look like a stuffed burritto instead of a shapely hourglass.

Men like pretty people. Hour class, pear, ruler ... any shape so long as they find them pretty. In most cases even the shapes shown in lads mags are unattainable to some, i'll never be an hourglass. I'm naturally inclined towards a boyish figure and even the most delightfully steel boned corsets can only do so much to give me any sort of curves. There are some examples of "normal" body shapes on Mazzario at Blogspot, which I find far more helpful to look at then ladies picked because they're photogenic

Sophia Loren, miaow.

Seriously though men like what they like, no point even looking to the magazine industry to see what men find attractive.
