Is anyone familiar with this church? Is it considered charismatic? Appears to be based out of Fayetteville, NC and has planted several congregations in other areas as well.

We have twice visited a church in our area that is starting an affiliation with Manna church. During those two services, I haven't seen any speaking in tongues or prophecy from the congregation, but the pastor mentioned they believe all the gifts of Holy Spirit continue and that the Baptism of the Holy Spirit is a separate event from salvation.

We have attended what would be considered an evangelical church for about 20 years, but recently have felt unsettled and have been visiting other churches. I'm OK with the two things I mentioned above that we learned as long as the gospel is correctly proclaimed and the center of their belief.

Yes, I will ask questions of the Pastor if we start feeling lead to go there, but wondered if someone here was familiar with that group.

Strange name for a congregation.

Manna (Hebrew) = "what is it?"

Didn't know that! Does make it seem a bit strange literally, but I know they are referencing the manna that God provided the Israelites.

Exactly. It was called that because no one knew what it was when they saw it.

Deuteronomy 8:3
He humbled you and let you be hungry, and fed you with manna which you did not know, nor did your fathers know, that He might make you understand that man does not live by bread alone, but man lives by everything that proceeds out of the mouth of the Lord.

WolfGate,

I'm not sure if you will get this message (it's been awhile since you posted it).

I am familiar with Manna Church out of Fayetteville, NC. I have to say that I think they have done the best job I have experienced applying Biblical instructions for the Church. If you want to be equipped to engage your sphere of influence, this is the church for you. One of the things I like the most about them is that they believe it is the church leaders job to equip the saints (you and me) to be the ministers in our world. They really encourage people to get in the game so to speak.

Regarding the Holy Spirit, if you put them on a spectrum I would say the hit the middle. As in they are not cessationalists, nor are they holy rollers. I would still be attending Manna if I were in the area.

Best regards
Jeremiah

Hey Jeremiah - thanks for responding, despite the time lag! I appreciate your experience. We have visited there quite a few more times, and I was coming to the conclusions you listed above. It's nice to have confirmation from someone who spent time at the "mother church".

We're pretty much now just attending 3 different churches trying to get clarity on where God would have us attend and minister. Manna is in the mix. When I wrote the post, the church was not yet part of Manna, but as we learned more it became clear they were preparing the congregation for that move. It's been in place for several months now and seems to be going well.

Thanks again! I hope you were able to find a good church home where you relocated.
