LUCIFER - - MORNING STAR

MORNING STAR

Revelation 22:16:16I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star. - KJV

Numbers 24:17:I shall see him, but not now: I shall behold him, but not nigh: there shall come a Star out of Jacob, and a Sceptre shall rise out of Israel, and shall smite the corners of Moab, and destroy all the children of Sheth. - KJV

Zechariah 6:12:And speak unto him, saying, Thus speaketh the LORD of hosts, saying, Behold the man whose name is The BRANCH; and he shall grow up out of his place, and he shall build the temple of the LORD: - KJV

2 Peter 1:19:We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts: - KJV

Revelation 2:28:28And I will give him the morning star. - KJV

The morning star is Jesus.

Isaiah 14:12:How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! - KJV

lucifer 1966 heylel hay-lale' from 1984 (in the sense of brightness); the morning-star:--lucifer.

In the margin of a KJV bible I have it says '' O day star'' a number next to ''O Lucifer, son of the morning!''

note in 2 Peter 1:19 where it says ''day star ''

Isaiah 14:4:That thou shalt take up this proverb against the king of Babylon, and say, How hath the oppressor ceased! the golden city ceased!

proverb 4912 mashal maw-shawl' apparently from 4910 in some original sense of superiority in mental action; properly, a pithy maxim, usually of metaphorical nature; hence, a simile (as an adage, poem, discourse):--byword, like, parable, proverb.

This was a taunt, sarcasm against the King of Babylon.

From what I have gathered Lucifer is a latin word,so what is a latin word doing in the Bible?

The King of Babylong is a man NOT a fallen angel.

The King of Babylon wants to set himself above God.(Isaiah 14:13-14)

How can the morning star or day star be lucifer,a fallen angel?

When Isaiah 14 is a taunt against the king of Babylon(a man),and lucifer a latin word is only mentioned once yet it means ''the morning-star'' and the morning star is Jesus???

Let’s look at the different translations of Lucifer in Isaiah 14,and hopefully we can move past this Lucifer and see the meaning of Isaiah 14.
*12How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, who didst rise in the morning? how art thou fallen to the earth, that didst wound the nations? - Douay-Rheims 1899 American Edition
*12 How art thou fallen from heaven, O day-star, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, that didst lay low the nations! - American Standard Version
*12You, the bright morning star,

have fallen from the sky!

You brought down other nations;

now you are brought down.
- Contemporary English Version

* 12 King of Babylon, bright morning star, you have fallen from heaven! In the past you conquered nations, but now you have been thrown to the ground.
- Good News Translation
*12 “How you have fallen from heaven,
O [a]star of the morning, son of the dawn!
You have been cut down to the earth,
You who have weakened the nations!
- New American Standard Bible
*12 How you have fallen from heaven,
morning star, son of the dawn!
You have been cast down to the earth,
you who once laid low the nations!
- New International Version
*12 “ How you are fallen from heaven,
O Lucifer,[a] son of the morning!
How you are cut down to the ground,
You who weakened the nations!
- New King James Version
Footnote: Isaiah 14:12 Literally Day Star
*12How have you fallen from heaven, O [a]light-bringer and daystar, son of the morning! How you have been cut down to the ground, you who weakened and laid low the nations [O blasphemous, satanic king of Babylon!]
- Amplified Bible
Footnote:Isaiah 14:12 The Hebrew for this expression--"light-bringer" or "shining one"--is translated "Lucifer" in The Latin Vulgate, and is thus translated in the King James Version. But because of the association of that name with Satan, it is not now used in this and other translations. Some students feel that the application of the name Lucifer to Satan, in spite of the long and confident teaching to that effect, is erroneous. The application of the name to Satan has existed since the third century A.D., and is based on the supposition that Luke 10:18 is an explanation of Isa. 14:12, which many authorities believe is not true. "Lucifer," the light-bringer, is the Latin equivalent of the Greek word "Phosphoros," which is used as a title of Christ in II Pet. 1:19 and corresponds to the name "radiant and brilliant Morning Star" in Rev. 22:16, a name Jesus called Himself. This passage here in Isa. 14:13 clearly applies to the king of Babylon.
Bible passages from Bible gateway.com
THE CONNECTION--ISAIAH 14:12 TO LUKE 10:18
The footnote in the Amplifed Bible,on Isaiah 14:12 mentions Luke 10:18 .
Luke 10:18 :And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven.
The connecton is between Luke 10:18 and Isaiah 14:12 to prove that Lucifer was Satan and vice versa.
Lucifer does mean ''the morning-star:'' but the morning star can only be Jesus.(2 Peter 1:19,Revelation 22:16)
So are we met with a contradiction?
Not so.
Verse 13 of Isaiah 14 states:For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:
How can a fallen angel ''ascend into heaven'' if he was already in heaven with other Angels?
How could a fallen angel ''exalt my throne'' ? - Are we to say he already HAD a ''throne'' in heaven that he was able to move in to a higher position?
Verse 14 states:I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.
This ''Lucifer'' was a man,the king of Babylon.
The king of Babylon, the mortal man was going to be like Christ by raising his throne and power above God.
Verse 15:Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit.
Lucifer, the king of Babylon will die like every mortal man dies.
Hell in vese 15 is:7585 sh'owl sheh-ole' or shol {sheh-ole'}; from 7592; Hades or the world of the dead (as if a subterranean retreat), including its accessories and inmates:--grave, hell, pit.
Before looking at Luke 10:18,let's look at the verse before that, verse 17.
Luke 10:17:And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through thy name.
NOW
Luke 10:19:Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.
