Love Songs
This morning I was listening to some music as I got ready for the day, and a song came on with these words...
I would give anything I own,
Give up my life, my heart, my home.
I would give everything I own,
Just to have you back again.
...and it got me to thinking about how popular songs reflect popular thought about many important things: Especially Love...
"What's Love Got To Do With It?" you might ask: I would counter with the question, Do You Believe in Love? All Those Years Ago, The Beatles told us that All You Need is Love, Love Will Keep us Together became the catch phrase, and everyone was Addicted to Love! It seemed like an Endless Love, and a Higher Love but it didnt last because it was only a counterfeit, and, in fact, without really knowing it, all these singers who meant well, only created more questions...
"I Want to Know What Love Is," they cried and How Deep is Your Love replaced the certainty. Too many Silly Love Songs became the norm, and instead of Real Love, we found ourselves saddled with a Groovy Kind Of Love. What About Love? What happened to our assurance? Why Do Fools Fall In Love, and Will You Still Love Me tomorrow?
Love has been compared to so many things throughout the years Freeway Love, Jungle Love, A Love Train. A Love Boat, A Battlefield, a Sea of Love, and even sometimes Tainted Love.. But God wants to show us a Love of Another Kind! He says to us, "I Would Do Anything for Love" With Him, we can truly be Lost in Love! Its true that You're Nobody 'Til Somebody Loves You but only if that somebody is God, and only if you acknowledge His sacrifice, and cry "I am only worthy Because You Loved Me"
Love is a Many Splendored Thing but only when its True Love and only when it is Pure, perfect, and from The Source God and God Alone!
