"Legion" movie

M

Memento Mori

Guest
I just saw the trailer for a movie coming out in January called Legion. The premise of the movie is that God is sick of humans and sends His angels to Earth to kill mankind's savior who is still in his mother's womb. The only one who can help the humans against God's monstrous servants is the fallen Archangel Michael.

Okay, normally I am not offended by movies because I think it's a waste of my energy to care, but I think this is incredibly offensive. They've flipped the universe upside down: God is the bad guy (!), Gabriel and the other angels are monsters, Michael is a fallen angel, and Jesus is not our savior.

I just wanted to rant about this. Don't get dragged into seeing it. The frustrating thing for me is seeing commentary from Christians who don't mind the premise because "it's just fiction." Blasphemy is blasphemy in whatever form it takes.

Truths which the film unintentionally brings to light:

1) Jesus Christ is the God-Man and God cannot be against God
2) God causes all good things and God cannot change His Mind
3) God the Father's love for God the Son is so profound that it is God the Holy Spirit and because of such love God would not harm God (see number one)
4) God ordered all things to Jesus' redemptive mission (see number two)

Truths which show the film has an impossible and contradictory plot:

1) God did not kill Noah, man's proto-savior, when He punished man with water
2) God did not kill Lot, a righteous man, when He punished Sodom with fire
3) By the very Mystery of Incarnation God did redeem mankind, and, the death of Christ Jesus was an act of Divine Justice and of Divine Mercy, since He is our Victim, bearing our sins and being slain for our sake, whereby to kill Jesus even before His birth would redeem mankind

This looked like one of the few interesting movies coming out in the near future. I am a fan of epic supernatural fictions like this, and will probably watch it. *Dons flame-retardant suit*

Well honestly though, what do you expect from the likes of Hollywood?
I saw the trailer, thought it was very odd and that it made little sense, but it looked interesting nonetheless, so I'll probably watch it.

It is blasphemous, but hopefully it will have some people asking questions about Christianity, becoming curious about it, and perhaps draw close to it.

I saw the trailer, but maybe I didn't pay close enough attention. Michael is supposed to be "fallen"?

Yeah. God orders an army of angels essentially to exterminate humanity, and Gabriel readily accepts leading the army, while Michael rebels against it and is determined to save humanity, in particular a woman who is pregnant with a child, the new Christ (or another incarnation of Christ).

so the main character is a Michael? I did not get that from the preview
I am just wondering how they are going to end the movie, i mean, what are they going to do, kill God? i mean this movie just sounds way dumb

I was thinking the same thing.
Michael the Archangel apparently has a goal in sight to save the pregnant woman in the movie, who is the other main character, because she is carrying the new manifestation of Christ.

Why God would want to kill His Son is beyond me.
But I have no idea how on earth this movie could end. Will God say 'OK, my bad, you humans can live now?' Does Michael talk to God or something? It makes little sense.

And conversely, if they manage to pull off an ending that makes sense and isn't stupid, it could be awesome.

I'll wait for your review. It sounds like typical Hollywood embarrassment. I mean....God is the bad guy and Michael is the good guy?

I do believe that before you can bash something, you need to either experience it or research it. All you know about the movie is from the trailers. There are so many trailers of movies that hide important facts in the movie. How do you know that, at some point within the movie, the plot doesnt switch and we realize that the 'god' of legion (ironically the name of a demon in the gospels) of angels is following isnt Lucifer?

All im saying is dont bash something until you know everything there is for you to know about it.

I am a Christian, going to a private Christian college to become a Youth Pastor and i am very excited to see this movie.

Who knows, maybe there is some truth in it. Maybe after seeing it i can use it as a way to show Christ to people. It could open a door to a conversation about the truth behind God to someone. God uses everything for good. Good will come of this movie, whether it has twisted beliefs or not.

The fact that you guys are flipping out so much about this movie is kinda sad. Are you that scared that the truth will not prevail? The Bible CLEARLY states that Christ has already won. The victory is complete. So why are you scared if a movie challenges that? Why cant we see it and face it head on, knowing we are on the side of the Truth, on the side that is already won?

anyway, my rant is complete. thanks for reading, and i will let you know about the movie after i see it Friday night!

Let's see...
Your first post is on this thread.
Your first post is ranting.
Your first post is self-contradicting.
Your first post is atypical of promoters of movies.
I bet you're a troll.
