During the early 1970's, First Baptist Church of Hammond, Indiana, was the world's largest Sunday School. When I left, they were averaging 40,000 in attendance.
Later, the church turned Ruckmanite, believing that the King James Version had replaced the Bible as the Word of God, and they went through one of the greatest church declines in history. However, they were still the largest Ruckmanite church in the world.
According to a thread on a Christian hate site that I had been following, the church had regrown under their new pastor to become America's 11th largest church. A few weeks ago, the pastor publicly repudiated Ruckmanism.
