Am I the only one who has a problem with movies like Fireproof and Flywheel? Maybe I'm just looking at it wrong, but here are movies that show someone with a problem, they turn their life over to Christ, and voilà their problems go away. In my experience life doesn't work like that. You can turn your life over to Christ, but many times your problems remain. In fact, becoming a Christian may very well lead to even more problems (in this life). What do others think about these kinds of movies?

I have seen "Flywheel", "Facing The Giants", "Fireproof" and "Courageous". They are excellent films from Sherwood Baptist Church a church trying to fill an evangelistic void. The film's production values and acting improves with each title. In all of the films the lead character discovers as a Christian he has to live differently than he has been. They all decide to honor God and when they do an immediate problem is solved. But none of the films even imply that he will never have any problems just because he decides to honor God with his life. They are excellent films and I believe rather than nit-picking over what you think is an unreal approach you should buy the DVDs and show the films to your struggling Christian friends and any non-believers you know. I'm looking forward to Sherwood's next production as the time is short and Christians need to use the media to fulfill the Great Commission.

I agree it rushes through and doesnt show every detail bt I think if they drug it out for too long, the movie would be way to long. In my mind the problems are meant to be a metafor of what turning your life over to Christ. In Fireproof he does struggle... he has to let go of his porn problem on the internet and his boat that he saved for years and years for. When he takes his computer out and bust it up that was hard. he brought her nice flowers an still kept on no matter what.

I loved this movie.... mainly because it saved my marriage.
