Jesus tested in the wilderness
Matthew Chapter 4-11
We live in a world full of temptation, especially now these days. Everywhere we go, the people we speak to, the decisions we make most of the time leads to temptation which leads to sin. When Jesus was sent out into the Wilderness, He himself was subject to Temptation, Satan did his best to tempt Jesus and drag Jesus into sin. But how did Jesus overcome temptation from Satan? Jesus used the Word of God to overcome temptation. Satan tried three times to tempt Jesus but Jesus on all three occasions referred to Gods word and then the devil fled. Jesus in this case set a example for all of us on how to combat Satan and his temptation, he showed us by keeping Gods word at the forefront of our minds we can then overcome all temptation. We will always fall short of the Glory of God, but the Holy spirit that lives inside of us allows and helps us to beat all temptation and all sin. When we are graced with the Holy Spirit not only does God gift us with eternal life, but he also gifts us a new mind and new heart, our outlook on life and temptation, we no longer desire. Satan knows this which is why we then become even bigger targets for him, whenGod strengthens us it weakens Satan, we become a threat, so expect Satan to go into overdrive and to try and break you down, But like Jesus did he beat temptation and so can we. The Holy spirit that lives inside of us has already crushed Satan it has already overcome all temptation and gives everlasting life, So resist Satan and his temptation and he will flee. With trial comes error if we fall its important to take up our issues with God, to lean on our own understanding or wisdom is not wise. Our thoughts and emotions are subject to Satan’s manipulation, it is better to take up our thoughts with God himself, because God is faithful he is understanding, he is compassionate, he is merciful. So nomatter the situation we must always lean on Gods word ,the Spirit of God who knows all, past, present and future to overcome all fears and temptation.
For it is written: Jesus Is Tested in the Wilderness Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. After fasting forty days and forty nights, he was hungry. The tempter came to him and said, “If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread. Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God. Then the devil took him to the holy city and had him stand on the highest point of the temple. If you are the Son of God,” he said, “throw yourself down. For it is written:“‘He will command his angels concerning you,And they will lift you up in their hands So that you will not strike your foot against a stone.Jesus answered him, “It is also written: ‘Do not put the Lord your God to the test. Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendour. “All this I will give you,” he said, “if you will bow down and worship me.” Jesus said to him, “Away from me, Satan! For it is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only. Then the devil left him, and angels came and attended him.
