NASB 1995 Matthew 1:
Matthew didn't have to mention Uriah in this genealogy but he did. Why? Besides, the mother of Solomon, Bathsheba, was a wife of David and a former wife of Uriah.
Uriah was a faithful servant of David, yet David ordered his death so that David could marry Bathsheba. This was a grievous sin. God used this sin in the genealogy of Jesus to demonstrate his extraordinary grace. Well, at least Uriah was a good guy.
Berean Literal Bible:6 Jesse was the father of David the king. David was the father of Solomon by Bathsheba who had been the wife of Uriah.
The word "wife" is not in the original Greek and the name Bathsheba is not mentioned.and Jesse begat David the king. Next: David begat Solomon, out of the [wife] of Uriah,
