Is There a Biblical Meaning of Being Late in a Dream?

Can being late for things have significant meaning in dreams?

Thursday night I had a dream that I was almost an hour late for work. (Friday morning I had to stop by the store on the way so I left early and ended being almost an hour early!)

Last night I had a dream I was running late for church. Knowing we were late my parents decided to take what Dad called a 'short cut.' It was not a short cut but a very strange road (I don't remember much about it except that it ran by a fair or amusment park). We never made it to church before I woke from the dream.

(Btw it is very rare that I am late for anything. In fact I am usually early.)

--That depends. I think it is relevant here and now because you had two dreams with similar details around the same time. But, don't take my words for it...

Genesis 41:32: [When Joseph was explaining to the Pharoah why he had two similar dreams: that being the cows and corn] "the double dream gives double impact" (That's the living Bible translation by the way.)

Thursday night I had a dream that I was almost an hour late for work. (Friday morning I had to stop by the store on the way so I left early and ended being almost an hour early!)

--Possibly just a warning to not be late for work the next morning because stopping by the store... More on this one later.

Last night I had a dream I was running late for church. Knowing we were late my parents decided to take what Dad called a 'short cut.'

--Lol, people do that.

It was not a short cut but a very strange road (I don't remember much about it except that it ran by a fair or amusment park).

--Fair/Amusement parks, I feel represent distractions. Why go to church when you can have so much fun elsewhere?

We never made it to church before I woke from the dream.

--That is really good work ethic

Well, I will begin by saying that being late, isn't always a bad thing. Look at our Savior Himself. How many days passed after Lazurus' funeral before He showed up? Yeah, 3.

Or, when He is speaking about Himself in the parable of the ten virgins, He Himself says "While the bridegroom tarried [was late], they slumbered." Matthew 25:5

I think these dreams mean that God wants to do something in your work and church life. But you may need a heaping helping of the fruit of patients. So what if He is late in delivering, it is going to be good.

--With blessing my drear sister in the Lord.

These types of dreams can reflect anxiety you may be feeling subconsciously. It can be like a fear that you won't be able to take care of the routine or normal things because there are so many other things going on.

Do you or your family have a lot on your plates at the moment?

hi Brittany111
This is a warning dream. The Lord is warning you that someone you view as a leader is going to lead you into worldliness and away from God.
A carnival/fair is symbolic of 'worldly pleasures' and the road they are taking you on is not a short-cut at all, but it will take you a much longer time to reach where God wants you.

Lord I pray You deter this from happening in Brittany111's life and that she will not miss a thing You have for her along the journey. In Jesus' name, Amen

Thank you all for your answers.

Watchtower08 I believe I very much do need a nice size helping of patience. There are many things I have been waiting on the Lord for for what seems to me to be quite some time. Though I know His timing is much better than my own.

Firewater yes and no. We have a few stresses but none of them new.

Masterspiece could the fact that it was my dad in the dream be significant?

Fathers in dreams are usually representative of either God the Father, your actual father, or perhaps someone who is 'like a father or in that type of leadership role'. It is definitely not Father God who is taking you on this road. It appears that their intentions are good, but seems they may be deceived into thinking it's a 'short cut'. There are no short cuts to God aside from His divine acceleration.

This really hits me as a call to pray - not only for yourself that you not be led down this road, but for whomever is symbolized in this dream as leadership. I had initially thought you eventually make it to the church, but I went back & reread and see that you hadn't gotten there at all by the end of the dream - this is a serious call to prayer.

Lord, I pray that You will take hold of the wheel of this vehicle and steer her life in the right direction. We cancel the assignment of the enemy to get her life off course in Jesus' name and we proclaim Your truth will prevail. Spark fires in her heart to chase after You Lord & protect her family & all those in leadership over her from any variance of the path You want them to take. Make her heart so strong for You Jesus that it will be impossible for the enemy to detour her. Amen

Brittany111, just keep praying things like what I prayed above over your life - warning dreams are just that, 'warnings' and if we grab hold of God and beseech Him to keep us on track, He is faithful - Hold tight to Him precious.
