Is My Little Pony Christian?

Hello fellow parents~~
I have a question regarding My Little Pony. I have a 3.5 year old daughter who really likes MLP but after watching some episodes I found it a bit violent and was not too happy with the storyline. Then I heard from a fellow Christian friend that MLP is satanic? And I shouldn't have her play with them too... so I freaked out and put her MLP toys away and I replaced with their toys. However when she goes to her friends' houses she gets so happy being able to play with the MLP toys and asks me why she can't have them. Am I being to absurd to not allow her to play with the toys? I definitely do not want to show her the cartoon but are the toys off limits as Christian mom? Is the fact that they are unicorns and have horns relating to Satan?

I also read that the Bible mentions unicorn a few times but the unicorn in the Bible regards to a one horned rhino.
Is the unicorn known today as the mystical creature anti-Christian?
My daughter really wants MLP toys and I'm stuck in how to explain or what I should do.
Any advice?

Sad that I can comment on this.

The older shows seemed okay. The later ones got a bit off, in my opinion, so we stoppped letting my daughter watch.

As far as the figures go, there's nothing wrong with them. Things get labeled satanic for some strange reasons. I'm 48 and have heard this all of my adult life concerning a variety of products and shows. I even heard that the show NUMB3RS was satanic because they used divination to solve crimes (as opposed to mathematics).

My youngest had the toys and she is now 30 and Christian. My granddaughters love them too. Nothing satanic about a unicorn horse.

It's a colorful little animal toy. How sad that she loves them and can't play with them! Good grief, people are superstitious. If you don't like the shows, don't let her watch them. But how is a toy satanic?

Agreed with the others. The toys are fine.

On unicorns in the Bible, that's a Hebrew-to-Greek translation issue, and the original most likely referred to the wild ancestor of modern domestic cattle (which didn't have only one horn, but was "horned" and that seems to have been close enough for the translators of the Septuagint!) Agree with the comments above. I grew up watching my little pony. Now, i have two little girls and they watch it from time to time...and well i too watch along. I like to check out shows before they do....for precaution purposes (okay okay I'm 34 and still love cartoons ).

If you are talking about MLP Friendship is Magic, after a certain point in the show they gear it to older,,, crowds, blame the bronies. i know the Episode "Slice of life" or whatever it is has dr hooves in it (dr who reference) and stuff.. But as for violence. On the light side of it PG if that.

Kids don't grow up to be sinful adults because they played with some toy or another.
Pride, greed, lust and anger are far, far greater concerns.
Wondering whether a toy is satanic distracts from real issues in life.

There are 12 million single parent families in America, 14% of women commit adultery, anger about money is a primary cause for the huge divorce rate.
These things have nothing to do with unicorns or horses.

In the big picture, I think it is important to focus on raising kids who want to establish a deeper relationship with God.

I think the answer that I find is with the right parental guidance it is fine. My Little Pony Friendship Is Magic has some pretty good lessons that are even sometimes found in The Holy Bible. Forgiveness, Kindness, Compassion. In fact forgiveness is the theme of the first two episodes.

The character Twilight Sparkle addresses the 6 elements of harmony thats describe her new friends and herself. They are: Loyalty), Honesty), Generosity), Laughter, Kindness, and a Magic. Magic as you will come to see is "Friendship" (not actual magic). Although the show touches on what my be taboo subjects, so does Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, and I'm sure there is a list longer then I could imagine.

Star Wars in case you're wondering teaches people that it's okay to use magical powers "The Force" and "The Dark Side" so you get to pick what side you choose. Yet we all love these shows, and glaze over them and focus on a one show. As a parent, I was suspicious of this show, and had issues with my daughter watching it because I had the same fears as some parents do. I sat down one day wen she was older and watched it.

The tears that came to my eyes weren't tears of fear, and sadness because the Devil had pulled another fast one on us. They were tears of joy to see a cartoon that teaches children forgiveness, compassion, loving others, and how to get along with each other in constructive positive ways, by mirroring actual situations that happen in everyday life using ponies. Our children who are growing up today are in a generation that promotes violence, selfishness, envy, and greed, fostered by some of us who later came to Christ and had him reveal our sins to us and show us the way to salvation. We should always teach what Jesus said from the bible to our children, and realize that one day they will step out into the world.

To be brutally honest I have at times found some people who I felt were my bothers and sisters in Christ to have done more harm to my spiritual and psychological well being, then this show. Sorry to have to say that but that is my honest experience since I came to Christ.

People who think MLP is Satanic need to get a life. Get a grip, people. I'm not a parent, but I can certainly say that it's just some innocent little kid's show. I've seen most of it myself.

I remember my mother was really concerned about things like this, that certain toys were "satanic" and what not. I think Troll dolls were the big deal. We also had to quit watching Barney, something about promoting homosexuality I think. No Sesame Street. A lot of things were "off limits" or we had to quit watching. It was weird and I don't think it was particularly helpful.

I try not to have the same attitude with my kids. I think that cheesy kid shows are just that, cheesy kid shows. I don't think there is a hidden agenda in the majority of them. Maybe a little be politically correct social justice type stuff, but nothing satanic.

As a fan of the show I can 100% say the show and it's toy line is safe. But it is your choice.

I love MLP when I was a child. I had several of them, and I had the stable. We sold it in a yard sale. My mother wanted me to. I wish I still had it.

I'm not much of a fan of the newer ones. They look weird to me. The original ones were cute. They make a knock-off/off-brand of them that look more like the originals than the updated versions. I know things change with time though, to suit current trends and styles, making it appealing for the current generations.

I don't think there is anything evil about it. It's just fantasy. It's not any more satanic than Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny.
