They are distinct but interconnected. Mental health involves psychological, emotional, and cognitive functioning. Spiritual health concerns relationship with God. Depression can affect prayer life; spiritual struggles can cause anxiety.

Is it a good idea to confess it to psychologists?

It can be therapeutically beneficial to discuss past actions and their impact on you. Psychologists are trained to help process emotions and behaviors without judgment.

Is it a good idea to see a secular psychologist?

If you are a Christian, a Christian psychologist would usually be better.

Is it even moral to go there, considering most of them have an incorrect view of the soul and what makes a good person?

If you have no access to a Christian psychologist and the non-Christian psychologist helps to improve your mental health, it is okay. Mental health symptoms often have physiological origins, such as brain chemistry or hormonal changes.

What's the difference between a clinical psychologist and a priest or just a supportive network of Christian friends?

Clinical psychologists are trained professionals. Their methods are more science—and evidence-based, and they focus on psychological functioning.

A priest focuses on God, faith, sin, and your relationship with the miraculous Almighty.

If you have a trusted Christian friend you can count on, that will be great because he has known you personally over the years.

Can psychology aid Christianity?

Yes, it adds scientific methods to deal with mental health problems.

What is an ideal clinical psychologist?

A professional Christian psychologist who has known you for many years.

Not that I (or anyone else, for that matter) am truly qualified to deal with our "a little here, a little there" approach to life, trying to please ourselves against submitting to conscience, (which is usually healthy for the soul), in some self-assessed balance; but being sure as I am that it is madness to pursue life and satisfaction apart from Christ, (though I do it, too) and affliction of soul to quench the Spirit, sometimes to the point of internal conflict by which even one's physical health is affected, my hat's off to those who think they can attain some success in treating such matters without risking even more deadly results. Good luck to you all —and you've got an endless supply of patients.

What is the brain for?

I don't know what the brain does, but intelligence and emotions is in your spiritual mind and heart. the Mind is spiritual.
Most 'mental illnesses' are spiritual problems, doctors can only try to alleviate symptoms, they can't fix them, Jesus can.

Reference?

Jesus dealt with spiritual problems in the bible, and myself have a history of being diagnosed by physchiatrists, in reality what happened was that i was attacked spiritually, doctors labeled it mental illness but God is delivering me. Doctors can't fix the problems, a christian with discernment and the Holy spirit can do more against 'mental illness' than any doctor.

I like that. And the brain can be enhanced or impaired by medications.
Or, at least, one side or the other distorted? I have a friend who says drugs apparently took him out of physical consciousness (the temporal?) more than once, but the metaphysical (eternal?) was very distorted and terrifying.

The line between physical and metaphysical might be more of a continuum.

A christian in and prayer abiding in and with Jesus and the Father can (and does) heal.

Doctors are not allowed to by federal laws pushed thru by drugmakers.

Natural 'doctors' thru history have healed 'mental' illness symptoms. Since the 1950's they are not allowed legally to claim to be able to treat or to heal any disease. Deception of drugs rules.

To save the effort of your readers, this is how to do referencing in a scholarly manner:
  1. Give the source/citation.
  2. Provide the URL link to the source if available.
  3. Indent the quoted text.
  4. Bold the relevant keywords that are important to the point that you are making.
  5. Be concise and to the point.
I do this for others who read my posts. It is a standard high-school scholarship. If you practice this, I guarantee it will sharpen your analytical thinking. In any case, no one is required to do it. I prefer to interact with people who do.

I don't need references for telling this i said, the reference is my pastors, and ministers the Holy spirit, and life experience.

Even for a resident of the physical/temporal. Maybe even for residents of the metaphysical; but for God, they are both comparable to what we call tools, I tend to think. Neither one quite the economy from which he operates, if I can put it that way.
