I believe that it is a sin...because many people are bound to it...and its a bondage..despite if you fantasize about someone or not...nocturnal release in the sleep is natural...masturbation is not..and do you think God wants us to experience the feeling of [bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse] outside of the marriage bed...I believe not...I reccomend an online course for you called setting the captives free..and a book called every young man's struggle...because masturbation never satisfies and it leads many to more sexual acts. God bless

Though I agree I feel obligated to point out that everyone will touch themselves at least once in their life out of sheer curiosity, babies do. Like FoReal said its about not becoming bonded to this curiousity and not letting it take away from your relationship with the Lord.

What about plain masturbation where you're not imagining any fantasies or looking at pornography? Otherwise I guess unmarried Christian men would have nocturnal emissions.

touching yourself is not a Sin in any shape way or form.

It is unclean, and because of the sexual repression that is abundent, people will view it as a sin. But, the Bible address this situation stright on, and says, that it is unclean. So, as long as you wash youself after the act, it's all good.

I am sure you will find that people will be devided on this issue. But, then again, that is "People" and not God. Just as I am sure that many people will disagree with me on this issue, but that is just the words of humans, and not God.

God is not devided on this issue, Leviticus 15:16-18, explains it clearly and in detail that touching yourself is not a sin. It is unclean, which maybe why people view it as a sin.

As much as I enjoy an all cap responce, and I am sure JohnClay (the OP poster) does as well.

Only because so far this still relaited to the OP and I can see where some confusion might aries by this, I'll continue this little bit. Also because I believe that it will provide JohnClay some insight into the greatness of Gods wisdom and insight.

If you had read the whole of Leviticus 15 before you posted this (And I encourage JohnClay to please read Leviticus 15 as well). You would know that God is indeed talking about hygene. What an Awsome God that he would do this!

God talks about Hygene to a great extent, which is one of the things that makes the bible truly an amazing book of not only religion, but life as well.

I would like to add here, Forealzchola, if you wish to discuss this with me, because you disagree me, there are other sub forms that we could discuss this on.

Also before anything else gets brought up, I would like ask if JohnClay, the person asking the Question, if they want this to continue.

lust is a sin..can you honestly mastrubate without any lust for another or own flesh..etc..

Sex is a gift from God..anything outside marrige is a perversion of that..the bible calls it a youthful lust..and we that LOVE Jesus as Lord, must abstain and trust God with all our needs.
the world calls it self love or self sex..
thats what is selfish..Christ calls us to deny the old selfish nature and be ye holy..for he is holy.
So is it a sin..yes..can it be forgiven yes..can be overcomed YES!

check out porn-free.org for thier insightful study on the topic..the site is for all, not just beleivers.

Peace and self-control.

another reason to not to do it..porn is indeed sin..not only sin but evil.

I am not sure what distinction you are trying to make there?
Any lusting after something unlawful is sin. I don’t know that masturbation necessarily leads to this but may certainly be involved. Personally I just do not see the point but then of course I am circumcised. [bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse] is no more unclean then menstruation; so I do not see that it would be a sin on that account. It would seem to basically boil down to looking at a woman to lust after her, which is harmful in several ways.

I think masturbation is probably one of these situation-specific potential sins. By this I mean that in and of itself it is quite probably not a sin. However, if it were to come to the point that it would interupt with your relationship with God (sin to me = putting distance between myself and God) then it should be something most certainly avoided.
This I feel probably applies to anything - if you have an overwhelming obsession with anything then I think you tend to move into 'sin territory'. This can happen with anything, not just with lust.

The secret BIG sin that women, females and girls do too . . .

Unlike, sins that involve the touching of others . . .

it seems that masturbation is the ultimate sexual release;

alas, it is not . . .

It destroy those whom touch just as any other sin would . . .

You can imagine how great of sin it is; even if done in the "NAME" . . .

of Physical Health , i.e. when a Doctor requires one

to preform the act ~ in A test tube ~ petri dish or other glass apparatus . . .

I don't know the name of what it is called: when the doctor sticks his or her finger

up the male anus (supposedly) checking for the gland that is supposed to cancerous . . .

They say it is "innocent" . . .

you've heard it: It "seems" so innocent . . .

However; it is not . . .

Every swimmer must KNOW the secret, because, cold showers really can assist one in overcoming sexual "urges" . . .

* MEN can go swimming in real cold water for a mere fee at the YMCA,

not to be confused with the YWCA, where women get NO service . . .

Hope this is of assistance,

As Children of God we want NOT to SIN . . .

Every BAD Habit must be broken . . .

Well to OP, JohnClay.

Here is where we can see, that, if you feel it is a sin, then guess what, it is a sin to you, and you should not do it. That is one of the little things that happen. Just as if you felt that eating steak was a sin, then it is a sin, to you, and you should not do it.

But as you can see, these are the words of Humans.

I would have to say, when it comes to you personally, it is an issue of how strong or weak your faith is.

Leviticus is talking about seminal emission, it is not talking about a man giving sexual pleasure to himself which causes the seminal emission. There is a difference between an accidental emission, such as a nocturnal emission, and a deliberately emission. The only case in the Bible where a man deliberate emitted sperm is in Gen 38, with Onan. And in this case, God found it so abdominable that He took Onan's life.

The Bible clearly teaches homosexuality is a sin. The reason homosexuality is a sin is because God created sex between a man and a woman. Since man was not intended to give sexual pleasure to a another man, it is sin. But it is sin for a man to give sexual pleasure to another man, why would it be acceptable for a man to give sexual pleasure to himself?

Please excuse my graphical illustration here, but I think it is needed to make a point. Why would it be wrong for a man to take his hand and give me sexual pleasure with his hand, and yet it be OK for me to use my own hand to give myself sexual pleasure??? In both cases, the hand that is giving me sexual pleasure would be a man's hand!

Now why did that remind me of a certain article written by The Onion a few years ago?

God created two different humans for maximum sexual pleasure. Pleasure that gives us courage to understand each other's feelings of love and happiness. God did not create self-pleasure to last through our adult lives because that would lead to shyness with opposite sex and obsession with someone else of the same sexuality ie. homosexuality. Because Adam and Eve ate the fruit of good and evil, and now that internet porn is easily available, self-pleasure is an addiction that can't be easily put off for those who don't see the harm.

now some people may hate me for this, but I was one that easly came across porn free off charge, not that hard we have Limewire, torrents and other forums, I am reporting all of these sites. I am a teacher in my church and I have heard the 9 and 11 year old kids talking about porn and where to find it online! I am putting a stop to this garbage. yes I am a male and find women attractive, but I try not to lust after them which by the way God asks us not to do. Matthew 5 28. But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.."

Eventhough you can only commit adultry when you are married it has the same concept for us singles. That is how it starts as a single person, then when you do get married and your wife starts to lose her looks, you start to refer back to these photos, videos and thoughts of other women.
