Is it a sin to daydream?

umm.... not that I know of. As far as daydreaming about boys goes, if you let that turn to lust, then yes. But just day dreaming, I don't think it says anywhere in the Bible that that's a sin. Why do you ask?

It depends on what you're daydreaming about. Jesus taught a new level of sin when He revealed that we can sin in our thoughts. If you're daydreaming about violent things you could do to someone you hate, that is sinful. If you're daydreaming about things you shouldn't be doing at this age, that is sinful.

Otherwise there is absolutely nothing sinful in fantasizing about a new house (as long as you're not coveting someone else's) or your dream job.

since our duty as christians is to serve our Lord, and do things that help our neighboor and glorify our Creator... daydreaming isn't doing none of theese.... and I guess it isn't really a sin, but I'm sure it's vanity and chase afta wind.

I think it's perfectly normal (to some extent) to daydream, though one should check regularly, that it's not going too far; you should still remember to live your actual life here and now, and keep the things you daydreams healthy and normal. You probably know what I'm talking about: avoid daydreaming about anything that could hurt you or anyone else physically or mentally, or that would in some way break your relationship with God.

Oh, even private creativity and imagination can be used to serve God. It can be a prayer, just like anything else.

This is a good point. Dreaming should only be done when part of something beneficial such as sleeping, which is necessary for us to be rested at at our best to serve the Lord. To dream for the sake of dreaming is a vain and selfish act and goes against God's will.

I would have to say know, with the right checks, daydreaming could be a gift from god. I might be playing the "devil's" advocate but what about when you are not supposed to notice something, orGod wants to protect you? A daydream could be beneficial in that instance.

I believe that it is C.S. Lewis, in "Mere Christianity", who writes something like: a Christian may at any time give up meat, or leisure, or the cinema; and that can be a good thing. It becomes damaging, however, when he begins to look down his nose at others who continue to participate in those things.

Just don't be the girl that never talks and always stares off into the distance. I do like a good daydream myself though.

Also I'm new, obviously, but is everyone so specific and detailed with the sin stuff? Maybe a bit over the top? No hate, just an outsider's opinion

if it wasnt for day dreaming i would never get any inspiration for what i write about(creative short stories). but just remember that the Lord knows our thoughts, so keep it clean so to speak.

For me, it depends. I daydream a lot too, but what I daydream is something of creativity, as long as it doesn't damage your relationship with God, then it's okay.. it's just my opinion though..=)
