I was a member of the every Nation Church in Calgary, Canada. It is MOST DEFINITELY a cult! Stay away!!
They are very spiritually abusive, and practice and teach the sheperding/discipleship heresy (where everyone has a mentor, and you have to submit to what that person tells you in every aspect of your life, without exception). You can't question leadership. In our "church" you could only ask the pastor a question if you were a senior leader in the church. They teach a lot of emergent stuff and word of faith heresies.
If you want more info, please don't hesitate to ask me! I would love to save someone the years of abuse that I went through...

Wow...sorry to hear of your experience. I never encountered that while a member there in Nashville. There was a bit of teaching on discipleship, but from the aspect that we are all to be disciples of Christ in the leading others to Him for salvation

"We also embrace and adopt the Nicene Creed and Apostles’ Creed"

Sounds like they are pretty sound theologically in that they embrace the Creeds. However I personally shy away from any Church that does not practice the Eucharist and believe in the real presence.

I cannot believe what I am going through behind this church system. If you care about your life, free agency, free will, and making any kind of decision for yourself as an adult - stay far away from them. It will appear to be deceptively "the answer" to racial reconciliation but the reality is when these major pastors shut the door it's very different and it oozes out of them when you use too much ebonics, listen to too much rap, or watch too many YouTubers who yell when they preach. They will try to control every area of your life from who your friends are, if they don't like your family they will sabotage your family relationships, and they will block you from dating. All this can easily happen with this awful demonic leadership without ever having met them because they will literally use every moving person they can to draw you in, study you, and use all types of people around you to achieve their means. They will go as far as filing false police reports, setting you up for court dates, influencing family members dating partners to plant lies in their heads, I could go on and on about what they've done to me. That's just some of it. They used a prominent online personality of theirs that I had followed on social media to "big sister" me and I fell for it and she man handled my entire life, reached out to guys before I could even say hello, and told them to not speak to me or date me. They are bat$(W$% crazy. They are far from Christs followers. If they find out a rumor about you they will gladly throw it in a sermon and try to shame you infront of the congregation in spite of the fact that they go to EXTREMES to cover up their pasts. Everyone there is a robotic Stepford version of humans. Like, these are adults, in their 30s and 40s, and I feel like I'm at Walt Disney World. So if life hits you hard, these people are going to become unbelievably agitating, they are costumed versions of human beings. They literally preach like their spirit animals are potatoes and most of them look and act like potatoes. The head pastor of the particular one I went to sat upfront with his tribe sitting high and looking low on everyone, plotting all this stuff, and just enjoying the view. And he looks like a billionaire boys club reject Tom Cruises evil step brother who couldn't get into community college so he had to join a cult and roll with it as it evolved. SAVE YOURSELF AND RUN! I can't get these people off my back, they still find ways, from having my employers shake me up and make mention of sermon series/bible studies I attended while there to hacking my phone (I've filed a report with the FBI) to contacting my property managers and having them drop words in emails to shake me up like "Theological Thursdays". The stuff they do is hard to call out in a formal way, litigate, they master throwing rocks and hiding their hands. They are very turned off by any social justice issues especially that serve the black community and play it very safe, as well, they hate Gospel music (yet are satisfied with their choir's sounding like an elementary school chorus). Don't fall for this fools gold. They master reaching out to international students at local colleges and it fleshes out the look and feel of the place, and they are counting on your tithe. The ministers all live lavish lives for the most part (the ones on top) and it's not quite clear how (how sway?) because they are not well known, do not write books anyone reads, and just aren't productive. They must sell stocks. SAVE YOURSELF! They will expect you to be the most self sufficient person in the world in spite their money being a mystery and looking like their getting paid by some major laundering scam. It's definitely a church you go to "Keep Up with the Joneses" not hear from Christ. You will be over solicited by MLM's. Plus, they lean radical right and will try to indoctrinate you on the low. If anybody has survived these people please reach out to me because they are literally stalking and harassing me and I can't shake them or get rid of them and they literally get their zombie juice on everyone I can possibly talk to, to try to clear my head and release this pain/bad feelings. I am literally terrified these people are trying to destroy my life and they just won't stop finding ways to disturb it. If anyone has survived this group please contact me, I receive emails when people update this thread, and will respond promptly.

If you google every nation ministries cultic, you will find they are in fact an abusive church. And, that there are not two different church denominations.

I found some threads based off of your advice and wow just wow. What I wish I had known before and how I could have saved so much time and lived my life well without them.

God bless you. I am praying for you.

There seems to be a connection between Every Nation and the now defunct Maranatha Campus Ministries which went under in the early 1990's, a highly controversial campus ministries accused of extremely authoritarian practices. A number of former Maranatha leaders and affiliated churches went on to form Morning Star International a few years later, which was rebranded to Every Nation in 2004.

I am not a fan of extremely authoritarian churches. You can hypothetically be doctrinally compliant with Nicene Christianity while still engaging in cult-like abuse.

By the way, if anyone is aware of unorthodox or abusive practices in any specific church of this denomination, I will add it to my list of problematic local churches.
