Good day

I have discovered a band called "Disturbed", lots of people know them. There is one of their songs that is awesome "Sound of silence" I am not a huge metal fan because i can't hear anything that they in any case sing, but this song is really awesome.

What is the history behind this band are they devil worshippers, because if you look at their logo
03d19a8b2023ebbc6f1b3402e810c28a.jpg

History behind logo: "The Disturbed logo is a blend of four religious emblems: Star of David, theChristian Cross, the Wicca, and the Islamic Crescent Moon."

A lot of their songs refer to God and the Devil.

Is this a good band to listen to, even though they look dodgy.

Uh, well i know that symbols are used in occult to draw power and if you listening to something thats got a symbol on it chances are you are opening yourself to spirtual entities that operate with use of symbols. Thats how spells work.

They could sound good to you but thats where deception lies..tickling ears with what you want to hear.

If thats what you want to do then dont say nobody warned you.

Well, David Draiman, the lead singer of the band, has already explained what that symbol means;
"The symbol that you see elevated above the set behind me is a symbol of universal belief"

Yes. He is a Jew by birth, though he is not strict in his observance.

Not to fast. Oh, Sleeper started out as a Christian band and they have a symbol too, but it's to mock the Pentagram in a way. The upper left and right corner of the edges are gone. It symbolizes that horns of the devil broke or lost. Maybe, cuz Jesus kick his ass. Who knows? lol

Disturbed are not evil. They actually back up Christ. Listen to "Liberate" from them. Great song.

And I'm not a huge Disturbed fan in general, but going back to the OP, "The Sound of Silence" is a cover of a Simon and Garfunkel song from 1964. What Disturbed has done with the song has been to make it relevant to a newer generation that would have probably been put off by the electric folk style of the original recording. They really gave it new life.

Interesting cover, and well worth being made IMO. I have a REAL problem with someone making a cover that sounds exactly like the original. Why bother? (unless you are a tribute band)

That said, S&G harmonies really conveyed the empty feel of the song, and I missed that in this version. But I did like it being in a lower key (one that I could sing with) and not in the stratospheric high tenor ranges of S&G.

All in all - nice. On the overall, I still prefer the original but this is a good contender.

I am not sure why the S&G sound would put any off, but if that is so - then more kudos to them for making the cover.

I will simply state this, if there is a song, or a group you have questions about, not sure if they are good to listen to or not. Go to the Source, pray about it. God knows your heart and he knows the reason why you want to listen to or read something. Whatever the case may be, there is a song by Creed I listen to called Don't Stop Dancing, because it deals directly with a lot of what I have been going through spiritually ( a time in the desert). I saw that symbol and had questions as a result of that myself. That's how I happened to come across this site in my search.

I love disturbed for my own reasons, I find their message to be one of an individuals disillusionment with society. One I have felt my whole life.

Since this is a religious forum I feel I can explain in metaphysical terms my own experiences. The only thing I can say about god is forgiveness, and I think we screw it all up. Fact is, we are all wrong, even me. Every one of us has it all screwed up, and we have no clue what we are talking about. This is why Christ was sent.

How do I know? I always suspected, but god touched me in a dream and showed me his peace for 5 seconds. It was enough. I question everything, every day, all day, and feel pain all day, every day. Those 5 seconds were not bliss, they were good. Just good. So normal and good, that they defied explanation, because we fail to realize how much pain we carry every day, even when we are happy. Our lives are filled with pain, and we have no clue... and to have that wiped away is amazing. So amazing, that when it happens... we won't even ask god why we had that pain, we will just revel in the reality of the now and how wonderful it is to be relieved of it, and how shocked we are that we failed to understand how much we hurt.

How does this relate to disturbed? I just like disturbed... but they talk about pain, daily pain, the pain most people feel, and really feel. The pain I felt and knew I felt. Maybe not always the pain I did not know I felt, but its all pain.

I say this while I feel hope and joy. I look forward to my future, and my life that i have left. Life is precious, it was not meant to be spent in pain. So I will do my best to live my life despite it. Disturbed reminds me of my pain, but is fierce enough to remind me that I can overcome it.

Disturbed Fan... (recommend... the light)
