I Remember...

Thought this might make for a fun thread. Post things you remember from way back when.

I remember the time before microwave ovens. When we got pizza, the cardboard box had re-heating instructions, and it took 20 to 30 minutes to re-heat a couple of leftover slices. Now it takes 30 seconds.

I remember when soda cans were opened by pulling off these:

People would litter and throw them on the ground, and it would hurt if you were walking around barefoot in the summer and stepped on one.

I remember the days when the butcher had massive marrow bones for free...

I remember back before there was voicemail or even answering machines. You called someone, let it ring a few times, and if they didn't answer you just had to try again later, lol. On a rotary phone of course. I remember the first time I saw someone had a push-button phone in their home. I thought "wow that's high tech."

I remember walking to the beach on prickly cones from Australian pines (Casuarina equisetifolia) on barrier islands in Florida. We didn't have flip flops back then. And economical driveways were made of sharp pieces of crushed shells. That was gulf coast Florida in the fifties.
