I'll listen to a song, and if its not a christian song, if its, like taylor swift or something, I'll feel guilty. Taylor swift doesn't have music about, sex, drugs, etc....why do i feel like that. I feel like everything I do is a sin, I'm so miserable, and when ever i try and say, "I'm not sinning" I feel Guilty -__- Help

Dear AllyssaJulianna. Jesus Himself, gives us the right answer to this: In Matthew 22, verses 35-40, Jesus tells a Lawyer: " The first and great Commandment is: Love God with all thy heart, with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. The second is like it: Love thy neighbour as thyself. Then Jesus points out: " On these two Commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets."
Love is very important to God. What can we do? We start by treating all we
know and all we meet, as we would love to be treated: kindly and with friendly words, a helping hand, when necessary, and being a good neighbour to all around us. Love is a Christian`s great weapon, Love will overcome all enmity and all wrong-doings, and as for Satan or his demons, they will run away from all Love and Compassion.
All we do or say, or advocate, or stand for, should be from Love: for God and for our neighbour. Jesus will give us His Love and Joy, and the Holy Spirit will empower us with His Love, also. Then we thank God and share all Love and Joy with our neighbour. It may seem a bit strange at first, but we will soon change into the men and women, which God wants us to become. And we are the only representatives which God has in this imperfect world.
I say this with love, AllyssaJulianna. Greetings from Emmy, your sister in Christ.

We aren''t born perfect/sinless.
Its all a progress.

For now, just stay with Jesus. And focus on the things you can do, dont stop focusing on "small sins"'; but focus LESS on this.

Killin' sins permant usually comes from wisdom, wisdom is a thing that is slowly aquired. Until you get the hang of it :p
Just ask Jesus for the Holy spirit, to teach you what you needed to be teached today.

We are told most of our lives don't do blank. While blank may or may not be a sin is not the issue. What is the issue is most people think they have to be a certain level of good to be close to God. The best people we know in and of themselves are no closer to God than the worst person. Our actions cannot obtain a sinless state. It is only though the blessed sacrifice of Christ Jesus which we are counted sinless. None of this is to advocate a purposefully sinful life, as we are to strive to be Christ like. But we must either accept or reject the gift of salvation from Jesus. Sister Christ loves you not because of are sinless but because you are you.

My friend, I feel your pain, and I'm praying for you.

I was convicted about non-Christian music awhile back, and I went through this same thing. All of a sudden, every secular song I listened to made my spirit hurt! I have a couple artists I think you should check out, their music is similiar to hers, but with a Christian theme.

Sara Groves - she has a song called The Word that is awesome!
Rita Springer
The Maranatha Praise Band

Its hard to find "good" Christian music, but I hope this gets you started. I also know of some great Holy Hip Hop artists if you like hip hop :)

I hope this helps!

music is a universal thing because it resonates with us in one way or another. now, i dont think there is anything better than a rocking Christian song, but in my opinion the majority of Christian songs are kind of boring and i have to be in the 'mood' in order to listen to them. but bands like Red or even Jeremy camp, il listen to them all day but its because they have GOOD MUSIC. im not really listening to it cuz its Christian music im listening to it cuz i thoroughly enjoy the music and the extra benefit is that the lyrics are about Christ.

i dont think we should be limitting ourselves to Christian music tho because there is great music out there that is entertaining, that moves us, or is just catchy. for instance, that song Glad you came by the Wanted. my mom loves that songs cuz its catchy. but when she listens to it she is singing to God about how she is glad He came. i think she just ignores the bit about trying to get the girl drunk haha ;)

but my point is, its all a matter of perspective. there are athiests that listen to Christian music because they like the music and dont really pay attention to the meaning and they create their own meaning. Christians can do the same thing with other types of music.

one last example. classical music. Bethoven, Bach, Mozart. its not Christian music but it relaxes me and gives me peace and can inspire me to worship God.

now, if you dont wana listen to other music other than Christian music, that is completely fine, im not saying anything is wrong with it. im just giving you my .02 on the matter.

cheers :)

I agree! For some, secular music doesn't bother them, and if so, then great! Enjoy! But for others, it does. There is a verse that I think helps with circumstances such as these:
Romans 14:3 (NIV) The one who eats everything must not treat with contempt the one who does not, and the one who does not eat everything must not judge the one who does, for God has accepted them.
This tells us that if it hurts our spirits to do something, then we should abstain. But if our spirits are okay with it, then its okay for us to do it, but NOT okay for us to tell others they should do as we do.

Don't worry about this stuff or overthink it. Listening to a secular song doens't make you a sinner. God isn't sitting there with a check book saying "Well, she listend to a secular song. Shes going to hell now!". lol

I mean you don't want to listen to bad stuff obviously and you don't want these things taking over your life. We will always sin because we will never reach perfection. Only Jesus was the only human on earth that was perfect. All we can do is try to be as perfect as possible.
