Question is simple I know, so let me go more in depth. I have questions that seem to push me away from God and make me very angry towards Him. Hypothetically speaking, if their are no answers that will satisfy me, how would I let my anger towards God subside?

You sound as though you have no choice but to be angry, if your questions aren't answered to your satisfaction. Is this really the case? Are you truly without any other recourse in your attitude toward God? Do you have to be angry?

Job could have been very angry with God, yet he chose not to be. What complaints he did have are answered by God as follows:

Job 38:1-12
1 Then the Lord answered Job out of the whirlwind, and said:
2 "Who is this who darkens counsel By words without knowledge?
3 Now prepare yourself like a man; I will question you, and you shall answer Me.
4 "Where were you when I laid the foundations of the earth? Tell Me, if you have understanding.
5 Who determined its measurements? Surely you know! Or who stretched the line upon it?
6 To what were its foundations fastened? Or who laid its cornerstone,
7 When the morning stars sang together, And all the sons of God shouted for joy?
8 "Or who shut in the sea with doors, When it burst forth and issued from the womb;
9 When I made the clouds its garment, And thick darkness its swaddling band;
10 When I fixed My limit for it, And set bars and doors;
11 When I said, 'This far you may come, but no farther, And here your proud waves must stop!'
12 "Have you commanded the morning since your days began, And caused the dawn to know its place,

And,

Job 40:1-9
1 Moreover the Lord answered Job, and said:
2 "Shall the one who contends with the Almighty correct Him? He who rebukes God, let him answer it."
3 Then Job answered the Lord and said:
4 "Behold, I am vile; What shall I answer You? I lay my hand over my mouth.
5 Once I have spoken, but I will not answer; Yes, twice, but I will proceed no further."
6 Then the Lord answered Job out of the whirlwind, and said:
7 "Now prepare yourself like a man; I will question you, and you shall answer Me:
8 "Would you indeed annul My judgment? Would you condemn Me that you may be justified?
9 Have you an arm like God? Or can you thunder with a voice like His?

There is a place for acknowledging that we understand from a finite, limited point of view and thus cannot ever fully comprehend all that God is and intends to do. Sometimes we must simply concede that we are not God and cannot always make perfect sense of what He allows and does. Taking this line should help to diffuse your anger toward Him.

Your anger stems from Pride. Pride in that you feel you have the right to be angery with God. Ask God to help you with your pride then Forgive him for whatever you belive God 'owes' you. Then ask Him to forgive what you 'owe' Him.

God is the ultimate creator and force in the universe who revealed Himself in the bible and Jesus. He demands perfection on a level we cannot possibly achieve nor grasp and because of this He setences imperfect sinners to an eternity of being burned alive, because that is what perfect justice demands in His eyes. As far as my questions go, the main one would be:

Why does God demand eternal punishment for our sins if we (human beings) have no chance of fully understanding His holiness and the severity of our sins as He sees them?

Your probably right. I just don't know how to deal with pride. I have asked God how I deal with pride and I believe He said that He is the one who humbles me. So go figure since He apparently hasn't humbled me yet. :D

These are perfectly reasonable questions. So is your anger. If you believe in God, and it sounds like you do, TALK to Him about what angers you. Spill it out. Jacob even wrestled with God until he got his answer. Moses insisted on seeing God face to face and went seeking Him and didn't stop until He did.

God tells us to come and reason together with Him. He is a God of mercy and grace, and because He IS holy, justice MUST be done. And it HAS been absorbed, by His only begotten Son Who bore the judgement of God on our behalf.

But we must be under the Shield of Righteousness His Son provides. If we are not covered by His righteousness we are compelled to absorb ourselves what is meted out by a holy God. Justice must come. Yet God provided an escape from the wrath to come through His Son, Who bore His wrath and died on our behalf.

If you believe in God, TALK to Him, about anything. He is not shocked by anything we say to Him. He invites us to come and put it all before Him.

Ultima,
Sometimes we just need a new perspective. Check out this link to the Mayo Clinic which describes Christ's crucifixion from a medical point of view. Knowing the true depth of Christ's suffering for us is a great way to find new perspective and see things through new eyes.

The Physical Death Of Jesus Christ, Study by The Mayo Clinic

By the way, God understands anger and He loves you regardless. He is longsufferng and patient with us. He loves you so.

What I would say is tell God everything, tell him why you feel angry with him, he wants a personal relationship with you, if you feel he has let you down, then tell him, he will be at work in all of this. Draw near to him and he will draw near to you. God bless you.

We cannot achieve it in our fallen nature and He helps us with His grace. It is a 'cooperation' with the Lord and a 'participation' in the Divine plan of salvation. This does not mean with His grace invested in us and our eagerness to follow The Way, Truth and Life that this perfection he calls us to is achieved overnight. Conversion is an ongoing journey of growth in faith, hope and love. Day by day:

To see Him more clearly,
to love Him more dearly,
to follow him more nearly.

Day by day.

Trust in the plan of salvation of the Divine mercy. He does not abandon you when you fall under the weight of the cross at times. He is right there with compassion and grace encouraging you to get up again. Though the goal is never to fall we do and will fall in little or big ways in our lifetime. God does not abandon us because we are not perfect it is just that we are called to trust and follow Him and as many times as we fall to rise up and continue in His footprints. This does not mean we can just choose to fall and run to confession. We endeaver to be holy people, faithful and loving.
He does not abandon you even though you may feel left on your own to do the impossible

brinny what you said was great, it was a great about Jacob wrestling with god, i always think about that when struggles come, it is not easy coming to the lord, or even being a Christian but it is about coming to him with everything and laying at his feet, even anger, what ive come to notice is that in myself I really am his child and sometimes I really feel like it, I try and demand my own way with him and when I've finished being angry, I do feel like a little child that had thrown his dummy out of the pram, I'm not sure if this is because I'm a fairly new Christian, I.E. three years, when I argue with him sometimes that Is how I feel, but two scriptures I struggle with at the moment is 1. Love does not demand it's own way, that is really hard, I now know that means with God as well and Job 41 v 11, I have always been of the conclusion that God needs us, as though some how god needs me to be in his life, the scripture really hurt me at first, but then God showed me that he does not need me to feel complete, like I would help boost his self esteem or something, but God desires us, he loves us, like a father loves his children, each and every one of us. God bless you

Yes, Ace. God LOVES that we come to Him, no matter what. Especially when we most are inclined not to. We can go to Him and say i just don't feel it, but at least we're saying it, to Him, and not hiding, feeling like we are miserable examples of Christians, and then avoid Him. I have wrestled with God fiercely. He allowed it because i was so desperate. He is a good Father.

You seem torn...

You have two beliefs that don't really work together or come from the same place but do speak to heart of the matter in you...

You believe both of these things

1. God's conduct is not acceptable.
2. You shouldn't be angry at him.

You find God evil and yet good at the very same time.

My friend, ask God to help you understand, invite him to open this problem for you, ask him to help you.... please. Time will help. There are somethings you simply cannot learn now or today... you are going through something and process is not finished.

I would wager that you think God is bad and you conclude God to have done many bad things and you conclude that his actions are without excuse... but in your heart you still believe he is real and you still believe he is good. That you believe he is good does not surface in your arguments or statements but it does surface in your desires such as you not wanting to be angry at him. You are confused, more information is not what you need, all of this will become clear in time... you are not struggling with information... your struggling with your beliefs and they are evolving, it will finish in it's time.

Ask God for help, you do still believe he is good. You conclude that he did bad things, none of that means you don't believe hes real or that you believe he isn't good.

At the end of the day when the arguments are over and information falls away... look inside yourself and what do you see? Look deep down into your heart, what do you really believe? Not what you think is really really important, what's there? What do you believe? If it's that God isn't real or that he's evil then nothing can keep you in Christianity but you may return someday when you find God again... if it's that God is good you will never find peace in these struggles and you need to ask him to give you peace and end this storm for you.

If you believe he is real then give him the chance to answer you... if you believe almighty God exists then consider that you may have made a mistake and ask him to show you, give him the justice that is due him, give him the chance.

Those are very good and honest concerns... not all Christians believe in such a place as a literal Lake of Fire or that eternal punishment exists. For real... Check out the unorthodox Christian forums, you are not alone in this problem.
I don't believe God would do that to anyone either, it doesn't make you not a Christian and it is possible to be a Christian and not agree with that. Some Christians believe non-believers go to the grave (cus that's what the word hell means) and simply die as the bible says the payment for sin is... death. No literal lake of fire.

That's just an honest idea and response, I too am offended at the notion of hell, it is far too terrible for my God to have made and sent humans too. No criminal has ever done anything that terrible to another person... and I'm supposed to believe that my God does it to 95% of the people who have ever lived?

brinny, I too have wrestled with god quite a few times, I have had to do, because of the things he has desired for my life things that I was not willing to put down, sometimes it's felt like I have been banging my fists at a door, saying let me in, let me in, but if god shuts a door there's no opening it, after a long while of banging my fists, I sit down by the door, absolutely shattered by the whole experience, with just enoug energy left to say, I give up, your will be done then usually later on I feel much better that it's in his hands, but he has to fight me for it first. God is so amazing, I would just give up but he keep persisting until he gets what he wants from us, he then uses that in such amazing ways. how is it for you? How are you wrestles with God if you don't mind me asking.

I don't mind at all. If i wouldn't have gone through a "Job" experience i would have never understood anyone else's wrestling with God or the inexplicable anguish and suffering that one can be in. It's like God's "boot camp" and He hems us in, where there's no escape. I was furious with him. I also learned that even with my flailing with all my might against Him, He was bringing me through a necessary journey that shattered me to the uttermost limits of my soul and then some. I understand now how necessary it was. I didn't then. Yet He would not relent. He was doing this:

"Behold, I have refined thee, but not with silver; I have chosen thee in the furnace of affliction." ~Isaiah 48:10

I understand anger with God. I also understand that He doesn't crumble when we are at our wits end and express this anger to Him. He sees past it, to what is the root of the pain and anguish that is behind it. God would never run from or distance Himself from a wounded soul who cries out. Neither would Jesus. He understands such anguish first hand, when in the Garden of Gethsemane He sweated as it were, great drops of blood. And on the cross when He cried out, asking why His God had forsaken Him. We can take Him anything. We just need to ALWAYS go TO Him, and not run in the other direction. He's got us, and that entails, and will surely complete what He started in us.

Thank you for sharing and understanding about anger with God. Too many times it's misunderstood.
