How do I find out if there's a house church group near me?

I'm looking for a new church and am quite interested in th idea of a house church. Are they just a group of people who keep themselves to themselves or do they welcome new members(or does it depend on the house church). Also is there any way of finding them or is it just as & when you find out about them?

Sorry if these are stupid questions but the idea of a house church is not a familiar one to me.

A "house church" is any group of Christians who meet in a home as a small gathering, usually without a paid Preacher. Some of them go also to a Christian sect for worship meetings, while having mid-week study times, and others stand apart from denominations and try to meet in a scriptural way.

I'm sure it will depend on the group. To find one, you can do a search for house church networks, organic church, neil cole, and other such names. There are some pretty good videos on youtube about HCs also.

Blessings,

Going back many years, house churches in the UK were called "Cottage Meetings" (and still do). One can read some about Cottage Meetings at the web site: biblecounsel.homestead. com. It shows how house meetings can evolve to a larger building as they grow and are blessed. You can PM me if you would like more info. Look up!

Here, in Florida, one can find all sorts of signs stapled on telephone poles near intersections. If you were to make several signs with the words, "Christian seeks a home church" with your phone number some one might see it and respond immediately.

There's a bunch online to find organic house churches. Check out HouseChurchDirectory dot com.

If there isn't one in your city or country, then post one for where you are if you're willing to meet. This way others will find you and you will be connected.

I'm in Florida and found a few listed there, and on other websites. Be sure to contact them and ask questions. Sometimes you will find a house church directory that tricky pastors use to promote their "house church" when really it's just a regular church that meets in a house until they can find a building. :-(

Then they become just like other institutional churches.

I forgot to mention, there is a great organic house church in Bournemouth UK. Are you near them? If so, I will give you the contact information.
