For those of you that don't know what they are; see above.

I've heard they can be grown indoors but there might be a problem with mealybugs attacking them. I've got a couple of antique shallow pots I thought of trying them in for indoors.

I also heard you can cut a single leaf off the large hen & put it in damp soil & it will root.

If anyone has grown these indoors, let me know how it went or is going.

Thanks!

I have never grown it long term inside.....when I lived in south Texas I grew it outdoors.....I love it, and it would spread out and make a nice ground cover. It is really easy to root, I would take the cuttings inside and root them...then plant them outside.
I like them too. I've heard you can grow them indoors all year but I was just wondering if its worth the trouble...

I thought you were talking abou real chickens, but they look beautiful from the picture.
They are pretty. They come in various colors too. Some even have spiderweb like hair. I think I'm just going to try it. They root so shallow so it would make a perfect surrounding if I wanted to center a Saint in the pot. St. Francis maybe...

2 years ago my girl went to girl scout camp, and they planted these things in an old soda [pop] bottle [3 liter] they cut off the top and filled it with decorative sand.

It died.

I personally dont think it could retain the water at that height. Plus sand is not known for holding water anyway. [which is why it goes well in clay to help break up the water retention of clay]

EH..i tried to save it, but it was doomed i tell ya.

A pot would probably work.
