Has anyone had experience with "A Course in Miracles"?

What I want to know if it's biblically sound. It seems like it would be a nice course. I mean, who would refuse to learn about miracles?!! However, nothing is new under the sun and some things help and other things hurt. I believe if it adds or takes away from the message of scripture, it is harmful and misleading, but I would love to hear others experiences and views on it. Some say it is "new-agey" stuff. Others say it transformed their lives. And what about those issues? I mean the lives that have been transformed by it. Does that make it bad or sinful if it helps lives? I'd love a discussion on this!

No, stay away. It is new age. It twists the Bible. I know because I once tried reading it, but it totally contradicts the Bible, and says everything is an illusion, and that Jesus didn't die on the cross, even though it has biblical sounding words in it.

After I came to know God I could see it for what it was, lies masqueading as enlightenment. Also if you do some research it was 'channelled' that is, written down by someone contacting demonic spirits. The lady who wrote it down had problems with depression afterwards. And also God's ways are much better. If you try and follow this, it just ends up in confusion, saying there is no sin, whereas the Bible everything is clear about what is good and what is evil.

The Holy Spirit is the one who teaches us and he gives gifts of miracles to who He wishes, but the greatest miracle of all us our salvation. Plus the Bible has much better stories!

I didn't know that she had depression afterwards! You would think she would have been walking full of miracles!

So, the best way is through God's word, The Bible? Somehow I am recalling this scripture "I am the way, truth, and life. No one comes through the father, except me" (John 14:6).

Can commentaries on the bible even be flawed as A Course in Miracles? I used to read commentaries, but some of them can be biased towards the commentator.

I appreciate that resource, Joey! Actually, this is good to know for all those who seek such things. It's hard not knowing the truth, unless you find out the truth for yourself! There is also a "Course of Love" and I'm sure is also not scripturally sound, which is supposedly the "extension" of the course.

I think another miracle was God's grace!

Which reminds me there are other channeled writing, including "Seth Speaks" and things like that. I'd be careful of those, too.

I'd still welcome anyone in defense for the Course, providing scriptures indicating the the course would be a supposed "continuation of Christ's message" to the bible. :)

A course in miracles?

Its pretty laughable actually. I wonder what people think when they buy books and stuffs like that. Even those who attend the courses and classes.

I wouldn't touch such books with a long meter pole.

The only one who does Miracles, and who gives the power to do it to His Children is the LORD God Almighty.

Jesus does the miracles and He does it through His Children, not through Books, not through courses and classes. Its purely by the POWER of the HOLY Spirit.

Stay well away from ACIM. It is New Age - which is to say, it is essentially Hinduism with a Christian face. When I was young in the Lord my group of friends fell into it, and the damage to pure faith was incalculable. Thank God I found my way out. I burned my books and never looked back.

As we have already shown you it is a New Age teaching, teaching another Jesus.

I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting him who called you in the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel—not that there is another one, but there are some who trouble you and want to distort the gospel of Christ. But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you, let him be accursed. As we have said before, so now I say again: If anyone is preaching to you a gospel contrary to the one you received, let him be accursed.
(Galatians 1:6-9 )

I will be very disappointed and surprised to see a christian who knows what this teaching means sing the praises of" A Course in Miracles".

Which is exactly what the Course teaches and leads its reader to do. 1. READY to listen. 2. WILLING to learn. 3. ABLE to hand any situation over to Jesus for His miracles through His Children.

It is interesting that you say this, Crant, because that is also how I have read it in "A Course in Miracles." The Urtext of A Course in Miracles even starts with the sentence, "You will see miracles through your hands through me," which means that Jesus is doing the miracles through God's Children. There are many differences between the Bible and A Course in Miracles, but there are certainly also many similarities.
