Romans 5:
19 For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners,
so also by one Man’s obedience many will be made righteous.
20 Moreover the law has entered that the offense might abound.
But where sin abounded, grace abounded much more,
21 so that as sin reigned in death, even so grace might reign through righteousness
to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
By the abounding Grace of God, the Saints overcome sin by righteous deeds.
1 John 3:
4 Whoever commits sin also commits lawlessness, and sin is lawlessness.
5 And you know that He was manifested to take away our sins, and in Him there is no sin.
6 Whoever abides in Him does not sin. Whoever sins has neither seen Him nor known Him.
7 Little children, let no one deceive you. He who practices righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous.
The Saints who are born of God reap the fruit of righteousness
John 4:
35 Do you not say, ‘There are still four months and then comes the harvest’? Behold, I say to you,
lift up your eyes and look at the fields, for they are already white for harvest!
36 And he who reaps receives wages, and gathers fruit for eternal life,
that both he who sows and he who reaps may rejoice together.
Lay hold of eternal life by pursuing righteousness
1 Timothy 6:
11 But you, O man of God, flee these things and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, gentleness.
12 Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called and have confessed the good
confession in the presence of many witnesses.
18 Let them do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to give, willing to share,
19 storing up for themselves a good foundation for the time to come,
that they may lay hold on eternal life.
Those who come to Christ and bear no fruit are cast out
John 15:
4 Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine,
neither can you, unless you abide in Me.
5 I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit;
for without Me you can do nothing.
6 If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them
and throw them into the fire, and they are burned.
7 If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.
8 By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples.
Those who come to Christ but reject the call to righteous and holy living have their hearts hardened unto all manner of deceit
Romans 2:
5 But in accordance with your hardness and your impenitent heart you are treasuring up for yourself wrath
in the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God,
6 who will render to each one according to his deeds;
7 eternal life to those who by patient continuance in doing good seek for glory, honor, and immortality;
8 but to those who are self-seeking and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness—indignation and wrath,
9 tribulation and anguish, on every soul of man who does evil, of the Jew first and also of the Greek;
10 but glory, honor, and peace to everyone who works what is good, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.
11 For there is no partiality with God.
Living in righteousness requires a complete rejection of what life has to offer in this world, to attain the life that is to come
John 12:
25 He who loves his life will lose it, and he who hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life.
26 If anyone serves Me, let him follow Me; and where I am, there My servant will be also.
If anyone serves Me, him My Father will honor.
Saints who are found faithful and worthy attain everlasting life
Matthew 25:
44 Then they also will answer Him, saying, Lord, when did we see You hungry or thirsty or a stranger
or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to You?
45 Then He will answer them, saying, Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did not do to one of
the least of these, you did not do to Me.
46 And these will go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.
Those who serve Him know His Voice to receive eternal life
John 17:
2 As You have given Him authority over all flesh, that He should give eternal life to as many as You have given Him.
3 And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.
Closing Exhortation
Jude 1:
20 But you, beloved, build yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit,
21 keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.
