dressing punk is all right. as is goth and anything else.
hmmm...i haven't heard their music, but murdering someone? maybe they're trying to express themselves. i mean...not that they're going to go out and kill someone. but they've been through a lot -- i assume -- and they're just trying to express themselves with their music. i know i may write some stuff sometimes...but it never means i will go out and do it. hehe i don't know...maybe i should look up their lyrics. but...hmmm...i'll look up the christian thing too. i think i heard it on MTV or something. but yeah, i think they're pretty cool.

according to another christian board (i don't go there...just was searching...hehe), one member said:

Other Christians in the mainstream include Sixpence None The Richer, Good Charlotte, Lifehouse, Daniel Bedingfield, Plumb, Wilshire and others.

i think most people out there agree that they are (i'm still not sure exactly which are, or if they all are). some people just disagree with them singing nonchristian music (which i think is just silly, because why should we live in a bubble?). some people don't like that they seem...extreme. the whole punk scene scares them. some people think that they're okay. and some people like them a lot. anyways, they've have been quoted saying,

"we're not your typical christians".

so...i guess they are christians then. and that ^...i don't see that quote being bad. i think they just mean that they're not these legalistic "oh, i can't do this" type of christians. i mean...kids these days need real people they can relate to. not these super-righteous "do this" and "do that" christians. and especially since Good Charlotte deals a lot with kids coming from broken homes and such, i think they're fine. i think they'll reach a lot of people.

anyways, i will stop rambling. heh.

Well, I was sitting at home today doing homework, and I had MTV on as background noise, and they showed the video for Hold On. (For those who haven't seen it, it's got a strong anti-suicide message.) All day, I've had this ache in my heart as to why a rock band has to be the one to get this message out, why the church isn't doing it. I hope this video is a reflection of Christianity in the band, and more importantly, I hope it gets a message of Christ's love out to somebody who otherwise wouldn't receive it.

i totally agree. i was also looking around and i found a list of their tattoos :sick: lol. benji has Jesus with a crown of thorns,and the Virgin Mary. Joel has Christ and some praying hands. they all thank God in their cd notes.

on the other hand, i also found some "disturbing" and crude quotes they have made, and some pictures. I think they may be Christians, just very confused.
"actions speak louder than words". they dont act any different thn a lot of other secular music artists. as christians we are supposed to be different: "in the world, not of it". I still like GC, i just wish they would quit fooling around and sending mixed messages. i think we should pray for them

THank you 'godchick03' The song bloody valentine (#7 onthe CD) is a parody to the tale tale heart. if you own their second CD then you can read the lil booklet about the song. it also says from benji and joel that first and foremost they want to thank god. so Benji and Joel are both definately chirstians. Their music isnt mixed signals its just not all about god. They write about experiences and stuff and not all of those have to do with god. They arent condecending, in one of their songs one of the lines is 'ya know i pray everyday' im pretty sure its in the song called complicated. Also i am a christian and i love the way they dress and they shouldnt be labeled or judged by that. annyway hope that helps some people and GC is a great band!

They certainly are Christian (dude, look at all of the proof! The thank-yous, the couple of lines in their music, a couple of their tattoos...) and I don't think they're any more vulgar than any of the bands out there on MTV. In fact, they're rather MILD! I don't think they're sending mixed messages, I think it's just that they're young and wild and are appealing to a certain audience.

Go GC!! Yay! ...::drool:: Benji...
