Hello everyone,

I had a dream last night and I am not sure if it is to be taken literally, or if it is symbollic of something. I dreamed that my ex-girlfriend came to my church. I was very suprised to see her, because she was happy to see me, and we didn't actually breakup on good terms. My mother was also in the dream and she was very angry that my girlfriend had come. Finally I take my mothers face in my hands and tell her to shut up, or something of that nature. She gets a very enraged look on her face and then I wake up. Just so you guys know, my mother has been dead since 2003, and I wasn't even dating my ex-girlfriend when she died. We were just friends, although my mother wasn't to happy about it, mainly because my ex-girlfriend was African-American, she was a little bit of racist, not to the extreme though. Anyway it did anger me when she talked bad about us being friends, so my question is, should I take this dream as God wanting to heal me of some past issues with my mother and girlfriend, or could this be symbollic of something else in life. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Could very well be both.... but on the first issue:

Do you continue to hold grudges against your mother? Yes, she is dead, but that can matter in your life, a lot. How you look at who she was and why she was the way she was. (Ignorance.)

What is your opinion of your mother in that way? Did you believe she felt that way and there was no hope for her to ever change? Or did you feel like you could have educated her in some way had she lived?

You may want to take a look at the dream:

X-wife, insurance fraud, adultery . There may be a few parallels there in terms of links with global economics influencing nations, in particular, the USA.

Your dream also seems to have a context in your church. Are there many African-Americans there? Perhaps you could pray for more freedom from any prejudices that may be there. "A prejudice is a prejudgement: i.e. a preconceived belief, opinion, or judgment made without ascertaining the facts of a case." - Wikipedia. It may not be simply to do with race. It may be about judging by appearances (John 7:24, Is 11:1-4), and the race issue is a manifestation of this.

If this seems to fit with you, the authority to pray also often comes with dreams. You could pray that Jesus would increasingly soften the heart of your church & that your ex-girlfriend and/or what she symbolises would be welcomed in your church; plus however you feel lead by the Holy Spirit. This way you cover both bases :)

Is your ex-girlfriend a believer?

God bless
