After Gideon defeated Midian, Zebah, and Zalmunna in Judges 8:

27 Gideon made an ephod of it and put it in his city, in Ophrah. And all Israel whored after it there, and it became a snare to Gideon and to his family.

It ruined Gideon's family.

In the next chapter, his son, Abimelech

5b went to his father’s house at Ophrah and killed his brothers the sons of Jerubbaal [Gideon], seventy men, on one stone. But Jotham the youngest son of Jerubbaal was left, for he hid himself.
