A recent issue of the Wanderer had 3 articles in which it talks about the exciting growth and dymanism of the Catholic community in Front Royal, Virginia.

Front Royal is home to Christendom College.

Human Life International, Seton Catholic Homeschooling and other important Catholic organizations are moving there.

There is a growing substantial homeschooling community.

The Catholic population has gone from the low single digits to over 20% in like 10 years.

Has anybody been to Front Royal? What is it like?

I think that's the diocese of Richmond, I'm at the diocese of Arlington under Bishop Loverde.
Virginia is split into two dioceses, Arlington to the north, and Richmond to the south.
I do know, that despite the fact that Northern Virginia is a pretty liberal and urban area, Bishop Loverde has kept it pretty conservative (We only started to allow Female altar servers last spring.) We are a pretty Catholic concentrated area.
If Northern Virginia is conservative, Southern Virginia needs to be ultra-conservative. In elections we are typically the super liberal democratic area, with Southern Virginia being the super conservative republican area. Personally, I think we could probably split it into two. So we would now have a West Virginia, North Virginia, and South Virginia (Perhaps that small area separated by the Potomac could be East Virginia). Anyway, the difference between North and South Virginia is so great that I wouldn't be surprised if they are a hot spot for Catholics...

Actually, Front Royal is in the Diocese of Arlington, it is only about 70 miles west of DC.

Oh, in that case, then yes. Our diocese is very Catholic. I believe we have the 2nd highest amount of people accepting the call to the priesthood. At George Mason University a large group goes to Fairfax to pray the rosary outside the abortion clinic. I really can judge how Catholic we are in comparison with other dioceses, since this is the only place I've known my entire life.
Do you have any questions?

I was mainly wondering about Front Royal specifically. Have you been there, if so did you like the town?

Hey, who is your priest? I remember when I was there I got to know one of the priests from the area a bit. He was really cool. I am blanking on his name though... I think it started with a V...

To be honest, there is not much going on in Front Royal (I was just there two weeks ago). Yes, it is under Bishop Loverde in the Arlington Diocese and has an indult church - the other in the diocese being in Alexandria, VA.

Front Royal is a pretty town proximate the the mountains but struggles with finding industry. Besides the afore mentioned colleges etc pretty much the only thing out there is the Virginia Inland Port.
