maybe because we are interested in the jewish ways, after all when we accept Jesus in our hearts we become adopted into the jewish family because Jesus was a Jew. The jewish religion is very interesting . it's no different then finding out about our natural orgin etc: polish , indian, swedish, english, so what's wrong with following the jewish calendar and the feasts and festivals of the jewish people?we also follow the civil calendar holidays only because there are some in our church who don't quite understand the jewish ways. i hope i answered your question. i just thought there might be somebody who was jewish that remembers maybe something their parents or grandparents told them about what they ate. i did find on site on the internet. but thanks for you reading this anyway. May God bless you today .

I hope you aren't insulted, is so , please forgive me, I meant no insult, it's just that there are a few of us here that do not go by the Jewish calendar, but rather a Bible calendar, and this year the Christian calendar actually matched up and their Pentecost was our Shavuot!

I personally make cheesecake, a luscious one for Shavuot, many make blintzes. Are you planning on staying up all night to study Torah? :)

no, it has to do with receiving the Law......

Tradition, the rabbis tell us, has it that when the people received the Law and voiced their commitment to obey it - they realized that they had no meat that was kosher - so they ate dairy until they got it right about the meat :)

so we eat dairy to remember the acceptance of the Torah, not just in our verbal assent but took Torah into the depths of our life.......
