The Chairman of the Federal Communications Commission, Brendan Carr, appeared with a golden pin featuring the image of Donald Trump on his jacket lapel. Australian activist Drew Pavlou compared the image of the U.S. President to that of Mao Zedong. "Welcome to MAGA Maoism," he concluded.

Well, Trump chose the correct color, Red. Will there be a little book too?

ok? Nothing in the OP made mention of where it came from. It’s pretty weird that an agency chairman felt it a good idea to wear his boss’ face on a pin.

Normally it is but on MAGA it’s not. MAGA, not even once.

Of course, it's weird to you because your bias is showing. I don't think it's weird. Liberals tying him to Mao is dumb. What happened? The Hitler narrative gets old. Seems like you guys do a lot of name-calling or love placing labels on people.

No, it's weird to me because I've never experienced this kind of personalist ideology before. I've never been in a place where folks were expected to praise and pay fealty to a single man at the head of an organization.

Am I biased against that sort of thing? Yeah, maybe.

I don't think it's weird.

I don't know your background; maybe you're just used to that sort of thing.

Was he expected to, or did he want to? Sheesh, it's a lapel pin, but only liberals in their quest to win tribal warfare would come up with something like this to massage y'all's minds.

Yep, you hate Trump, so you posted something you believe in, which is garbage trying to tie him to Mao. Personally, I don't care what people wear. You are sounding like JD Vance making a big stink of what someone was wearing Was he also wearing a MAGA hat and t shirt?

Whatever. It doesn't matter. I've never been in an org where that wouldn't have been seen as odd, and I've worked for three different companies founded and run by minor celebrities in their own industries, one of whom deliberately built a cult of personality around himself as a sort of branding.

Sheesh, it's a lapel pin, but only liberals in their quest to win tribal warfare would come up with something like this to massage y'all's minds.

No, it's not "only liberals" who think it's odd to laud Trump in this fashion. Here's an example:

The thing is, he's a government official wearing it to work. Many wear a little flag pin or some other device to indicate their loyalty and patriotism. Wearing a Trump pin instead suggests that his loyalty may be primarily to Trump rather than the Constitution.

Again, worrying about what someone wears. Isn't this grade school stuff?

When "what someone wears" exhibits an abnormal amount of adoration for an individual, in a context in which those sorts of displays are both abnormal and potentially troubling, no.

Now, if the dude was wearing Trump underwear, I might think that's overly gushing for his guy, but for this liberal hit piece, only a liberal could dream up a story like this trying to make a mountain out of a mole hill, sheesh politics.

Erm, unless he is a flasher, his underwear is wholly irrelevant. Gushing is wearing the Trumps pin.

As a matter of bad taste, sure. But if his loyalty really was to Trump rather than the Constitution his fitness for office would be questionable.
