Quite nice, though there are more memorable intros.

For example, how about this song:

Here are a few of my favorite intros:

Cat Stevens on the piano:

This one has an entire tune as the intro to the song:

Here was the first cut on the follow up album to Inna Gadda Vida. I cannot think of a better intro to the song or the album if you are looking for a California psychedelic experience.

Long Way To The Top If You Want To Rock And Roll.

Not particularly inspired, but I had a perfect moment with Goo Goo Dolls "Long Way Down" which has a great guitar riff to start. My clock radio alarm went off exactly as the song started.

While this buildup to and Ode To Joy flash mob technically isn't an intro, the gathering of the orchestra and singers is awesome.

for all beginner guitarists who learn bar chords for the first time
Actually, those are power chords, not barre chords.

Power chords usually only have 2 or 3 notes, the fundamental and the 5th, and usually the octave of the fundamental.

Barre chords otoh have 5-6 notes and include the 3rd, either major or minor.

I learnt them as bar chords.

I have to go with March of War. It stands up by itself very well, but it sets up Axe of Judgment perfectly, they go so well together.

It's got a Celtic, Irish flavour, hasn't it.

I think the Rolling Stones are the epitome of great intros..

Once you get passed the intro, it gets to be much more questionable.
e.g. 'Satisfaction' may be one of the greatest intros in rock music, the song itself is pretty boring (IMHO).

Would you like me to bow to your superior knowledge? :)
Australia in the seventies, we were lucky to afford a guitar let alone a guitar teacher. Chords man. Thats all we knew. We survived despite our lack of knowing about the mighty, the elusive the awesome,, poooower chord !!

I understand. I thought they were barre chords as well, or single notes; but neither seemed to properly sound like the metal songs I was trying to play.

Then I read an article about Link Wray who had a band back in the 50s and was credited with inventing the power chord. Then I could play "Smoke on the Water" and "Iron Man" in a way that actually sounded right.

I just wish I knew about them back in the 1970s .....
