Elevator to heaven

Yet another of my dreams from long ago that I wish I remembered better


The only thing I remember, is that I was supposed to go into this elavator, and it would take me to heaven/Paradise - ending my time here on Earth without me dying. I was sure that it was God who told me to - in the dream. I don't think it was satan masquerading.
The funny thing is....that I was afraid. Or...well, maybe not afraid, but..uncertain, and hesitant. What would happen?? What about the plans I have? Etc, etc, etc.
I did eventually step inside the elevator...and awoke as it began ascending.

I'm still puzzled by this. Afraid of going home? Has anyone dreamt anything similar?

If you think about what dreams do, there's a possibility this was symbolic. Heading upward can be more short-term. Think about expectations you have felt, maybe pressed by others to do things related to church and worship, that you were hesitant about jumping into.

An elevator closes people in and leaves few choices. A rider knows they're either going up or down (like heaven) and have options to get off, but can't make other decisions themselves, like we're accustomed to.

Imagine someone studying/training for the priesthood, who felt confined by what the denomination taught and the processes of approval. To get to the destination, there is only one approved way. But the person still knows that despite the changed plans and sacrifices, it is still what they wanted to accomplish.

Then compare that to going for a walk in the park. You take any path you want, circle around, climb a mountain, roll down another... you make all the choices.

Your fear and hesitancy might not have been about heaven, but something related to spirituality and religion (heading upward toward success, completion, righteousness) that doesn't seem quite right to you.

Gary, would you have told ancient Jacob (in Genesis) that his dream was false when he had a dream in which he saw a stairway resting on the earth, with its top reaching to heaven, and the angels of God were ascending and descending on it. Where The Lord appeared to him.
God reveals mysteries to His children, be careful when you quickly douse what they put out.
