Does your hair get thicker after a perm?

I had a spiral perm when I was about 13. Now my hair is thick and wavy. People tell me how thin my hair was before. I was jsut wondering if its from the perm. My friend also had very thin hair and she got a perm and it just seemed to be so much thicker even when it was straight. Is it just me or does perms thicken your hair?

it is possible that a perm makes your hair thicker. when you permed your hair your hair porosity ( hairs ability to hold in moisture ) expanded. leaving your hair thicker. the chemicals in the perms are used to reshape the strand of hair, leaving it in a spiral no longer straight, depending on the type of rod used, ect. how the perm curl is manipulated is also another way that the hair could of gotten thicker through the perm.
