In the mental and spiritual sense yes you are a virgin again... but in the physical no...so I would suggest if it ever comes up in conversation you just tell whoever is seeking to know that you are practicing celibacy now...because you were once sexually active but arent anymore...

I agree with Forealzchola that when the bible tells about us becoming new creatures, then this excludes our mortal body that we are only living in here on earth. The new life is about the Holy Spirit that is living in us. But having this new life is far more valuable then being a virgin.

The bible says that the blood of Jesus washes us from all sin, ( 1 John 1:9). It purifies us from all uncleaness. And that if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature and All things are become new. In simple words, do we become virgins again.

YES!--Virginity is a state of mind, NOT a physical attribute.

When we are asked about our "Virginity" most of the time people aren't looking for a philosophical answer rooted in scripture. They are looking to find out whether or not we have had sex yet. If you have, then you have, if not then you haven't.. I would answer truthfully to the intentions of the question the person is asking of you. If you want them to clarify, then ask them to do so.. But don't sell yourself as something you are not.. This is a Pharisaical practice, (looking for loop holes in the law or scriptural philosophy.)

Let me break it down for you.

First of all, the bible says that we are the temple of the Holy Spirit.
Our bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit. The Holy spirit cannot dwell in an impure body. Therefore, your body as well had to be purified.
In Hebrews 10:22, the bible says that,
Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil consience and our bodies washed with pure water.
Our bodies have been washed from sexual sins, which means that we are now sexually pure. Romans 5:1 declares that we are justified, made innocent like you have never done it before, (like you have never been engaged in it before) and all these is in faith.:)

Let us dig more into the word of God and find out, so that we may be free. Know the truth and it shall set us free.

What i believe is that the Blood of Jesus has power to cleanse us from all the filth of the body and restore our sexual purity again.
When the bible says all things, it means All things, even sexual purity, not spiritual person only.

In matthew 9:17, the bible there talks about new wine and old bottles, folks, ..

....So if someone asks you have you had sex before marriage, your saying the bibles say if your a christian then it's OK (Not a lie) to say no, even if you have???

What if your a murder or Rapist? If someone confronts you about a past murder you committed (Before you became a christian) Is it ok to say that you had nothing to do with that either?

Is there a line the this "renewal?" and if so where does scripture draw it?

You are making it sound like loosing ones virginity is a sin.
What about the husband and wife? Do they need their virginity back?

The wine bottles and wine have NOTHING to do with virginity or anything sexual.
What we need to keep in mind about the Bible, is that we cant make it say what we think it should say, or what we desire it to say.
There is ALWAYS a CONTEXT to everything in the scriptures. We do good when we keep things in context.

and it says to "work out your own salvation with fear and trembling".

We should be more concerned about staying pure, and less concerned with "getting our virginity back"

IMO if you want to look at it like you described it, that's cool, but if i were you, i wouldn't take scripture out of context to "proove" your agenda.

The blood of Jesus cleanses us from all sin, but does not undo the consequences of sin so, no, we do not become virgins again when we're born again.

if the seal has been broken already then no we cannot go back in time and change that, but God can reverse the spiritual consequences of our sin. He will give you a gift of celibacy to wait on Him for your marriage partner, and in between that time He gives us grace and keeping power (1 Peter 1:5), so that our bodies can be kept while we wait. so no we dont physically become virgins again, but He restores our spiritual virginity by reversing the consequences of our sin and like you said... we become new creations in Christ.

true... but at the same time we dont wanna take away from the nobility of virginity... it is very honorable in the eyesight of God and i'm sure we can all agree that it is better to remain a virgin until marriage than to have to struggle to get free from sexual impurity later on... it is very painful to sever soul ties... not impossible... but it is painful

all this is true and i totally agree with you, but i disagree that we are physically made virgins again... once our seal is broken, it is broken... God will forgive us and cleanse us from our sins after we repent and ask Him for forgiveness, but He doesn't make us a virgin again physically... i'll explain why...

God deals with the spirit in a man, and his soul and body must come subject to his spirit. this is the washing you are talking about, but that washing is a spiritual washing, and through discipline and the power of the Holy Spirit our body is brought into subjection to the spiritual washing that is taking place in us...

God's primary concern is for the SPIRIT of a man, because He said that FLESH and BLOOD cannot inherit the kingdom of God (1 Cor.15:50).Our physical bodies will not enter into eternity with us, but they will return to the dust (Gen.3:19; Ps.104:29), and God will give us a new, GLORIFIED body (one without sin) instead of this present body we have (which is filled with sin by nature) (Phil. 3:21).

Our current bodies have already been corrupted by sin and CANNOT be redeemed. We were born into sin and shaped in iniquity (Ps. 51:5). There is no redemption for these bodies. God's plan of redemption is to save the ETERNAL part of man... which is his spirit. If you say our physical bodies can be redeemed (which is basically what you are teaching here), then you are also saying that it is possible for us NEVER to sin again, NEVER to make another mistake ever again, and NEVER to die physically... that is not true...

I understand what you mean about that wineskin and again i agree, but what you are referring to is a SPIRITUAL principle..... it's pertaining to the spirit in a man... not to his physical body.... we haven't received new bodies yet, but our spirit man has become new. There is no redemption for our physical bodies. Our bodies are decaying right now as we speak... That's why death is inevitable... it has already been appointed to man to die (Heb.9:27)... but our spirit man has already been quickened, because God's plan is to save our spirits and give us a NEW body at the resurrection...

so yes we are washed when God saves us but we are not physically made virgins again.... to say that is to say that God has redeemed us in our physical bodies.... this is not true because flesh and blood (physical bodies) will not inherit the kingdom.... our spirit man is the part of us that will receive eternal life because that's the part of us that God has redeemed and made new

another thing.... if our bodies have been redeemed, then there'd be no need for us to crucify the flesh on a daily basis.... something that Jesus admonished us to do... He admonished us to do it because He knows that man's sinful nature (physical body) cannot be redeemed, but must instead be CRUCIFIED.... killed.... so that our spirit man can live through us

Love,
~jazzy

I have to say it, too. In some ways repenting of promiscuity is that much tougher than never being promiscuous. You're essentially now recognizing and defending something without receiving much recognition or appreciation for it.

That's downright heroic in my book. You're not changing because of what you'll get for a perfect record any more -- you're changing because of your grateful love for the Perfect One Who rescued you from this body of sin and death (cf Rom 7:24ff).

Paul once pointed it out this way, too: "But if, in our endeavor to be justified in Christ, we too were found to be sinners, is Christ then a servant of sin? Certainly not! For if I rebuild what I tore down, I prove myself to be a transgressor. For through the law I died to the law, so that I might live to God. I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. I do not nullify the grace of God, for if righteousness were through the law, then Christ died for no purpose." Gal 2:17-21

Ultimately He will fix it. Ultimately you will be glorified in a whole new body, which you will hold in complete righteousness. So there's relief to look forward to, when Jesus returns to this world.

Yes we do, if we walk in purity and holiness and do not go and fornicate while we are saved. I have been a christian for 16 years and have not dated, kissed or even been on a date and I am waiting for my husband. I have kept myself pure and I believe I am a virgin. God bless you.

Yes and no. When a person receives Christ, and offers up their old sins and misdeeds for forgiveness (meaning, they sincerely repent of and renounce their wrongdoing), I believe they are forgiven what what they have done. The taint of sin no longer has to mar them or interfere with living a righteous life. However, physically, I don't think sex can be undone. Your virginity is restored, meaning you are made pure and clean again, but that doesn't mean you've all of a sudden never had sex, or that the physical consequences of your prior actions disappear. Sometimes, you still have to cope with it. However, you can still rejoice because you've been given a second chance and can continue your life in a pure way.

God Bless You!

If you're a virgin, then I've never sinned. Taking it as far as you are taking it only serves to deceive others. That's not what the Christian life is about.
