Does God punish you when you do something wrong?

Every single time I have done something un-Christian like something bad ALWAYS happens to me. I'm not going into the detail about what I do wrong but it's like God is punishing me. For example if I tell a lie, or have a lusty thought and act upon it you bet my parents will have a full blown fight that night (when they've been good for weeks), Or I'll end up doing bad in a test that i have always gotten good marks for or someone will say something mean to me. It's got a 90% accuracy rate. Is it possible that this is how God works? Or at least how He works with ME? And the more seemingly "bad" the act was the more harsher I get punished. And I know that all sin is sin but I'm sure you see the bigger picture. Please help cause this is something that's been pestering me.

Though God will convict you of issues, and possibly remove certain blessings from you when you do bad things, there are also times He won't do anything punish you directly just so you can see the consequences of your actions and learn from them.

One thing though, for your parents having a fight, this is not dependent on you. God will not punish people by having other people fight each other. He holds you responsible for your own actions. If your parents fight, they have an issue they must sort out and it's not due to you. You're never responsible when others behave in a bad way (trust me, fighting is bad) - they are responsible for their own actions.

Revelations 3:19
19 Those whom I love I rebuke and discipline. So be earnest, and repent.
Maybe this verse applies to what is happening to you?

He doesn't directly punish, no. It's a belief originating thousands of years ago before modern medicine and education for people to make sense of why people got sick or died for (the time) myserious reasons. People also get the idea he does that from what I hope are merely stories in the old testement where he directly killed children to punish their parents and stuff like that.

A person can suffer the consequences of their own actions, but they aren't punished by God.

i disagree....you need to study the OT better.and the NT

Hebrews 12:
6For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.

7If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not? 8But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons.

However I also believe that he will let your own actions do their own punishment sometimes on their own. But the bible is clear that he is a father who will punish

I agree sort of. Not every Bad thng that happens in our life is punishment for something bad you did. Sometimes bad things happen for no reason. Sometimes all that is needed is a good talking to. Sometimes the only "punishment" that God gives is letting you know hoe very much you have broken his heart. In my life I have made bad choices. Sometimes I had bad things happen because of that but other times I believe That God has protected me. Yes God does Chastenen But it is not always with a spanking( a bad thing happening)

Some of us are disciplined, as his children, others are let go to sow the seeds of their own misgivings. In either case everyone reaps the crop that is sown from themselves each day. Some crops take time to mature but you can believe that what ever you so that also shall you reap. Even if a life is spent in sinful futility and then repents, turning away completely, the crop will still yield its fruit, be it good or bad. So be careful what you so and those that are disciplined by the Father as a child be happy that He cares enough for you to allow you to be disciplined and to reap your crop, thereby learning two lessons from one action.

The bible says that God disciplines the ones he loves....

About your parents... you parents argue because of THEIR relationship... not because of something you have done, unless of course they are arguing about the sin you have done.

People may be mean to you because of WHO they are... not because you have sinned... unless of course, you have sinned against them!

Discipline from the Lord is allowing us to get caught and suffer the temporal ramifications of our sin and more importantly what the spirit does... convict... that can be very painful.

Hope that helps.

God is not punishing you.

Jesus Christ was never like that. When men brought a woman who committed adultery to Jesus to TEST his view on punishment. Jesus basically told the men to let the woman go. Indicating we all do wrong and need forgiveness. Jesus only told the woman not to continue sinning.

The "90% accuracy rate" you mentioned is not your fault. It's not God punishing anyone. God give us all Free Will. So it's people at school/work, friends, neighbors, relatives, even people we don't know, who affect how our day will turn out.

However, you can turn a bad situation around if you try. Because one thing God does do, is give us that power!
