Does anyone else here have a Vatican flag on the outside of their house?

I usually fly an American Flag outside of my house. But, I put up Christmas lights, and the flag was old anyway so I don't have it up right now.

I'll put up a fresh new one after Christmas.

:)

Same here, at certain times of the year, and now that we are in a new house, it has siding so I can't drill holes into it. I have no idea how we are going to fly the flag when we get a new one. I plan asking around.

I've never heard of anyone flying a Vatican flag, maybe it's more common then I think is. I know people seem to be flying all sorts of flags these days for all sorts of reasons.

No because I don't live in the Vatican City State. If I want to denote my Catholicism I do it w/ a big ugly statue like everyone else.
It is the flag of the Vatican City State, but I also view it as a symbol of my Catholic faith. The way I see it, if people can fly football flags in my neighborhood, I can fly the flag that represents my faith. If you prefer statues, that's your preference. I think my flag is a lot less expensive than getting a statue. If I had a high paying job, I would probably get a statue, too, in addition to my flag. :)

I don't have a flag but that would make a lovely Christmas gift.
I agree. And I forgot to make the point that different ethnic groups in America have flags showing pride in their various cultures. For example, there are a lot of Irish Americans who have the flag of Ireland to show pride in their Irish culture and heritage, Mexican Americans have Mexico flags, Polish Americans have Polish flags, Italian Americans have Italian flags, etc. So why not have a flag that represents our faith and unity with the Holy See? While nations rise and fall, the one thing that will remain is the Catholic Church.

Damn skippy.

I mean,

I MEAN,

just how many marines does the VC have in the sands of Iraq and Afghanistan anyway ?

None, because the Beloved Children of Christ+ do not kill or bring war to other human beings.

I pray for those at the point of death, it's my vocation. Thanks, but no thanks to all warmongers everywhere for keeping me in a job.

The flag of Vatican City was adopted on June 7, 1929, the year Pope Pius XI signed the Lateran Treaty with Italy, creating a new independent state governed by the Holy See. The Vatican flag is modeled on the flag of the earlier Papal States.

The flag of the Vatican City consists of two vertical bands, one of gold (hoist side) and one of white with the crossed keys of Saint Peter and the Papal Tiara centered in the white band. It is one of only two square country flags in the world, the other being the flag of Switzerland.

The Vatican City coat of arms can be found in the white half. The coat of arms consists of:

* the papal tiara (as used under the pontificate of Pius XI);
* the two keys which represent the keys to Heaven (according to the Gospel of Matthew 16:19) given by Jesus Christ to St. Peter. The popes are regarded as the successor of Peter, and the gold and silver keys have been significant elements in the symbolism of the Papal State since the 13th century. The gold represents spiritual power, while the silver key represents worldly power.
* a red cord connecting the keys.

The yellow and white of the flag also refer to the keys – in heraldry yellow represents gold, while white represents silver.

I don't have a house. I live in an apartment so I have no yard from which to fly a Vatican flag. However, if I ever get a house, I will definitely want to fly a Vatican flag outside along with the American flag to show my devotion to the Catholic Church and the Magisterium. :)

I got it from a flag store in Honolulu, HI. But I would have looked for one online if we wouldn't have found a flag store nearby.
.

Ah, the world wide web. What a resources eh? I was kind of thinking that when I asked. I think it would be so cool to have a vatican flag. I have a US flag in a display case the military gave me for service thats meant to drape over my casket but can't say as I have ever seen an actual flag store before. Thats neet. :)
