I've heard a song sometime back and I don't know the title or who sang it. But the song starts out about a little boy who wanted his dad to play with him. His dad was busy and never had time for him. The years went by and the boy grew up and his dad never took time for him. The dad got older and tried to get the son to have time for him but it was too late, he didn't have time for his dad. At some point the boy went to church and saw a picture or statue of Jesus. Something about God or the Father didn't reject him or something.
You can tell I don't listen to country music, though. Another song I think George Strait sang was about a boy that got in trouble but his dad told him that dad's always loved their children. Sunday was Father's Day and today I thought of these songs, do anybody know them? (This song is a lie, not all fathers love their kids, mine didn't love me). I think these songs may be inspirational country music songs.

Is this the one you're looking for for the first question? It's called "I Love You This Much" by Jimmy Wayne:

He can't remember
The times that he thought
Does my daddy love me?
Probably not
That didn't stop him
From wishing that he did
Didn't keep him from wanting
Or worshipping him

He guesses he saw him
About once a year
He could still feel the way he felt
Standing in tears
Stretching his arms out
As far as they'd go
Whispering daddy
I want you to know

[Chorus:]
I love you this much
And i'm waiting on you
To make up your mind
Do you love me too?
How ever long it takes
I'm never giving up no matter what
I love you this much

He grew to hate him for what he had done
'cause what kind of father
Could do that to his son?
He said 'damn you daddy'
The day that he died
The man didn't blink
But the little boy cried

[Chorus:]
I love you this much
And i'm waiting on you
To make up your mind
Do you love me too?
How ever long it takes
I'm never giving up no matter what
I love you this much

Half way through the service
While the choir sang a hymn
He looked up above the preacher
And he sat and stared at him

He said
'forgive me father'
When he realized
That he hadn't been unloved
Or alone all his life
His arms were stretched out
As far as they'd go
Nailed to the cross
For the whole world to know

[Chorus:]
I love you this much
And i'm waiting on you
To make up your mind
Do you love me too?
How ever long it takes
I'm never giving up no matter what
I love you this much

And for your second question, I believe you're talking about the song "A Father's Love" by George Strait:

I got sent home from school one day with a shiner on my eye
Fighting was against the rules and it didnt matter why
When Dad got home I told that story just like Id rehearsed
Then stood there on those trembling knees and waited for the worst

And he said, Let me tell you a secret, about a fathers love
A secret that my daddy said was just between us
He said daddies dont just love their children every now and then
Its a love without end, amen, its a love without end, amen

When I became a father in the spring of 81
There was no doubt that stubborn boy was just like my fathers son
And when I thought my patience had been tested to the end
I took my daddys secret and I passed it on to him

And I said, Let me tell you a secret, about a fathers love
A secret that my daddy said was just between us
I said daddies dont just love their children every now and then
Its a love without end, amen, its a love without end, amen

Last night I dreamed Id died and stood outside those pearly gates
When suddenly I realized there must be some mistake
If they know half the stuff I done theyll never let me in
Then somewhere from the other side I heard these words again

And they said, Let me tell you a secret, about a fathers love
A secret that my daddy said was just between us
You see daddies dont just love their children every now and then
Its a love without end, amen, its a love without end, amen

On a side note, country can be very inspirational as well as soothing. Most of it is songs about real people, real life situations. A recent Trace Adkins song, at least to me, says it right:
cause it's songs about me
and who I am
songs about loving and living
and good hearted women and family and God
yeah they're all just
songs about me

I personally listen to all kinds of music, and I pretty much mean all. Except.. I can't take much opera. But I find myself going back to country time after time, for many reasons. Including the fact that it really is just great music underneath the concerts and the lights and the heavy instruments. Happy listening :)

Thanks Keeda, the songs were the ones I were thinking about. I think they had both got played as Inspirational Country music. I like different christian music too. Just don't particularly care for Christian rap though I've heard a couple of songs by DC talk. I listen to alot of Gaither Homecoming music but I also like country gospel, bluegrass gospel, southern gospel, and some contemporary christian music.
