Do you think Lauryn Hill is secular or non secular? She has songs that could go into either. Non secular (Forgive them Father, Tell Him, etc) Secular (Ex Factor, Every Ghetto Every City Etc.)

I wouldn't put her squarely in either category. Her songs do come from a very spiritual place. I'm particularly a huge fan of her Bob Marley covers which tend to be religiously driven. On the contrary however, I know some Christians (my dad for example) is not hugely accepting of Rastafari driven reggae/music despite the fact that the themes are for the most part, Christian ones.

She has a group of songs that are secular and some that are not. You just have to sort through in my opinion. Her being the singer-songwriter of "The Passion" doesn't make "That Thing" a Christian song by default of course.

I'd simply peg her as a secular artist who happens to be christian, some of her tracks are clearly have christians themes. She's an artist who is good at what she does.
