There *are* differences. I know because I sent an article from the Reporter to my Carmelite friend and she informed me that there were. I have since been researching.

Have found that according to an January 25, 2013 article from Catholic New Agency, that Bishop Finn and canon law, the National Catholic Reporter should not be using the word "Catholic" (but they are "proud" to do it anyway). And the newsource has actually been in dissent of some Catholic teachings. Okay, it's liberal.

Also it appears that EWTN (Eternal Word Television Network) has purchased some of the National Catholic Register. Okay, I would guess that it's on the conservative side.

Since my computer is dying (yes, WA, yet *another* problem added to all the other ones I'm buckling under), anything more information about the two news sources that I'm obviously missing? The articles of the good Bishop and that of CatholicCulture aren't that helpful to me.

I dip in and out of both - I find them both helpful. I think, yes, of course the register is more liberal, the reporter is conservative. I find that the register often has really good articles about things going on in local churches, Priests and Sisters who are out there doing amazing work to help the poor, etc, And the reporter is good with doctrine and official Church teaching.
