Chewing the Cud and Cloven Feet

Deuteronomy 14:6. And every beast that parteth the hoof, and cleaveth the cleft into two claws, and cheweth the cud among the beasts, that ye shall eat.

What this means is more than instruction about your protein diet in the form of animal’s flesh. It has a greater spiritual meaning to God’s wise children. Let me build this concept for you. Consider Peter’s vision of animals on a sheet, Acts 10:9-16, 28. All those animals represented God’s children in the roles that He designed for us. Those with little or no understanding are the “beasts” in Peter’s vision, Psalm 49:20. As you know God’s children have also been symbolized as His sheep and cattle. And cattle and sheep both chew the cud and divide the hoof. The key to what I am leading to is found in the Words of the Lamb of God himself! Here is what he said:

John 6:53. Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you. 54. Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day. 55. For my flesh is meat indeed, and my blood is drink indeed. 56. He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, dwelleth in me, and I in him. 63. It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.

John 1:1. In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 14. And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

Using this Son-key, we see that God wants us to listen to Jesus’ Words of testimony, believe them and let them direct our thought and actions. That is the way to “eat Jesus’ flesh and blood” allegorically. Now let us see how this applies to cattle (children) who chew the cud and divide the hoof.

Chewing the cud

These days there is an adage that one should “chew on an idea”. That means to mull over it thinking the pros and cons of possible outcomes before accepting it. One weighs the good against the bad in determining what to do with it. Clearly cud chewers are thinkers who reason with an idea before swallowing it (buying it). All good thoughts come from the Holy Spirits of Heaven who lead us in our thinking. Chewers allow the angels a chance to thrash out evil or wickedness that may result from a course of action. Angels have a great opportunity to battle and defeat misleading devils in the chewers.

Isaiah 1:18. Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.

Psalm 91:3. Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence. 4. He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler. 11. For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways. 12. They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.

1 John 4:1. Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.

Isaiah 62:3. Thou shalt also be a crown of glory in the hand of the Lord, and a royal diadem in the hand of thy God.

2 Corinthians 10:4. (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) 5. Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; 6. And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled.

Cud chewers do not buy any and every idea that comes into their minds. They get with their “crown angels” and reason before they make a move.

Dividing the hoof

Human cattle and sheep walk in two places while they live. While they live physically on this earth, they also “walk with God in Heavenly places”. This is where the division of the hoof comes into play.

Ephesians 2:5. Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) 6. And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus: 7. That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.

When cud chewers meditate with their crown angels they are raised to Heavenly places mentally. Though the thought process may be at home or on the job, their feet are divided between earth and Heaven.

“All cows eat grass”

When I took music lessons that was how I learned the spaces on the music scale. The lines are “every good boy does fine”. I know some of you took music lessons and you recognize this. Let us deal with “ACEG”. Here is the grass!

Isaiah 40:5. And the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together: for the mouth of the Lord hath spoken it. 6. The voice said, Cry. And he said, What shall I cry? All flesh is grass, and all the goodliness thereof is as the flower of the field: 7. The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: because the spirit of the Lord bloweth upon it: surely the people is grass. 8. The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever.

As human beings we all communicate and socialize one with another. In this way the ruminators “eat grass”! We communicate by hearing and speaking words to one another. We give one another advice and listen to one another’s problems. Cud chewers do not readily do what a friend may advise. They immediately “divide the hoof” and reason with their crown angels to determine the best course of action. They may chew an idea for quite a while before accepting or rejecting it.

Conclusion

Now we understand the hidden message in the Law of Moses concerning eating the clean animals that “chew the cud and divide the hoof”. The message is really about us. God’s human sheep and cattle “eat grass”, that is, to listen to the words of men. But they immediately meditate with Heaven to determine whether or not to follow or reject the advice of men. They do not believe every spirit. They divide the hoof and take it up Higher!

Proverbs 3:5. Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. 6. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. 7. Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the Lord, and depart from evil.

Isaiah 55:7. Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the Lord, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon. 8. For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord. 9. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.

That's one way to look at it. But the literal interpretation still stands. Interestingly, I was wondering why the pig is such a no-no, then I read in a science journal where they said that a pig's heart is close in similarity to a human heart. Closer than any other animal.

Hmmm.

This is from the General Epistle of Barnabas from the Lost Books of the Bible and Forgotten Books of Eden, Collins-World Publishers.

Barnabas

CHAPTER 9

That the commands of Moses concerning clean and unclean beasts, etc., were all designed for a spiritual significance.

1. But why did Moses say, You must not eat of the swine, neither the eagle nor the hawk; nor the crow; nor any fish that has not a scale upon it? Because he comprehended three doctrines that were to be gathered in the understanding.
2. So he says to them in the book of Deuteronomy, I will give my statutes to this people. Therefore it is not the command of God that they should not eat these things, but Moses in the spirit spoke to them.
3. He forbade them to eat the sow, meaning: You must not join yourself to such persons who are like swine, who while they live in pleasure, forget their God; but when any lack pinches them, then they recognize the Lord; just as the sow when she is full does not acknowledge her master, but makes a noise when she is hungry, and being fed again, is silent.
4. Neither, says he, will you eat the eagle, nor the hawk, nor the kite, nor the crow; that is, you must not keep company with the kind of men who do not know how to get themselves food by their labor and sweat, but injuriously steal the things of others and watch how to lay snares for them, when at the same time they appear to live in perfect innocence.
5. So these birds alone seek not food for themselves, but sitting idle seek how they may eat the flesh others have provided, being destructive through their wickedness.
6. Neither, says he, will you eat the lamprey, nor the polypus, nor the cuttle-fish; that is, you must not become like such men, by being used to conversing with them, who are altogether wicked and adjudged to death. For so these fishes are alone accursed, and wallow in the mire, and do not swim as other fishes, but tumble in the dirt at the bottom of the deep.
7. But he adds, neither must you eat of the hare. To what end? To signify this to us: You must not be an adulterer, nor be like such persons. For the hare every year multiplies the places of its conception; and so many years as it lives, so many it has.
8. Neither must you eat of the hyena: that is, again, be not an adulterer, nor a corruptor of others, neither be like such. And why so? Because that creature every year changes its kind, and is sometimes male and sometimes female.
9. For which reason also he justly hated the weasel, to the end that they should not be like such persons who with their mouths commit wickedness by reason of their uncleanness, nor join themselves with those impure women who with their mouths commit wickedness. Because that animal conceives with its mouth.
10. Moses, therefore, speaking as if concerning meats, delivered indeed three great precepts to them in the spiritual significance of those commands. But they according to the desires of the flesh, understood him as if he had only meant it about meats.
11. And therefore David took aright the knowledge of his three-fold command, saying in like manner.
12. Blessed in the man that has not walked in the counsel of the ungodly; as the fishes before mentioned in the bottom of the deep in darkness.
13. Nor stood in the way of sinners; as they who seem to fear the Lord, but yet sin, as the sow.
14. And has not sat in the seat of the scorners; as those birds who sit and watch that they may devour.
15. Here you have the law concerning meat perfectly set forth, and according to the true knowledge of it.
16. But, says Moses, you may eat all that divides the hoof and chews the cud. This means one that after taking food, knows him that nourishes him, and rests upon him, and rejoices in him.
17. And in this he spoke well, having respect to the commandment. What, therefore, is it that he says? That we should hold fast to them that fear the Lord, those who meditate on the command of the word that they have received in their heart, and with those that declare the righteous judgments of the Lord and keep his commandments;
18. In short, with those who know that to meditate is a work of pleasure, and therefore exercise themselves in the word of the Lord.
19. But why might they eat those that cleave the hoof? Because the righteous lives in this present world, but his expectation is fixed upon the other. See, brethren, how admirably Moses commanded these things.
20. But how should we know and understand all this? We, therefore, understanding aright the commandments, speak as the Lord would have us. He has circumcised our ears and our hearts, in order that we might know these things.

Thanks.
