There was an unfortunate loss off the Queensland coast when a school chaplain was killed by a shark.
The attack took place when he and others were diving a few kilometres out from Keppel Bay near Rockhampton.

Many years ago another couple of young blokes and myself did some skin diving in Keppel Bay, but not as far as out as this party were. A chap fishing in a dinghy nearby told us there were big sharks in the area. We only saw a couple of small ones.
I had a bit of a close shave on Friday when I was walking a local "bush track". I just about stepped on a snake. It's a concrete path but there is a lot of leaf litter. I wasn't taking much notice but I heard a rattle of leaves, looked down and a snake tail disappeared at high speed into the neightbouring long grass a couple of feet away.
Ironically the day before my wife and I heard about a couple of snake incidents at one of our in-law's residences.
None of us know what the next day is going to bring.
