Sorry, but I honestly don't see it. I've heard the song, and I think it's cute. I don't think God minds novelty songs, provided they are clean. It's like saying Christian jokes are blasphemous. Hey, we shouldn't be so "long-faced" all the time!

Just my honest opinion, anyway.

I enjoy this song every time I hear it. The humor is funny, clean, and at the same time, Chris Rice is talking about being saved and praising the Lord. :)

I'm all for a good joke, don't get me wrong. (Remember the manna song? I loved that one!)
What concerns me is that the word Hallelujah has meaning. And the way this guy has mashed it all around is at absolute best very irreverent. We're talking about worship of Christ, here. There are times to be light hearted and silly, but there are things that we must be sober and intelligent about as well.
I guess I just fail to see how this kind of thing presents or promotes a good message.

If you listen through to the end of the song, you will hear the point that Chris Rice was trying to make.
He gives all of these speculative examples:
What if Kermit the Frog got saved,
What if Scooby-Doo got saved, etc.

Then at the end he sings,
"There's a point to this Looney-tune,
I'm not an Animaniac,
there's a lot of praising to do,
and cartoons weren't made for that,
it's our job"

He was trying to say that we need to get busy doing our job and praising the Lord.

I understand what you are saying des but even the word alleiluia is pronounced differently in different languages and cultures. What I found most problematic with the song is that he asked what if cartoons got saved, comes up with all these examples and then almost comments that beevis and butthead couldn't be. I know he doesn't directly say that but that seems to be the implication.

I respect your concerns and you have a right to them, but why not consider the possibility that it's just a fun song? I mean, that's all it is to me. I don't want sound rude by saying lighten up or anything, but really it's just a song. That's my opinion anyway. I liked the song.

Anyone else find this song blasphemous?
I just heard it on the radio for the first time today.
Wow.

(Sorry I haven't figured out the code to show it in my post. :) )

I think that's about borderline... but what I think it is is more LAME than anything.
Sorry to any folks who actually like that.

As a Christian, that just embarrasses me. I want us to look more dignified than thinking up if 'cartoons got saved' they'de be singin yabba dabba dujah....

OMGAWSH. :swoon: :sigh:

Naw, that's okay. You're entitled your opinion. I can see why you would think that, but then again I'm kinda goofy anyway. And to be honest, I'm not sure the secular world really pays much attention to that kind of thing anyway. I could be wrong, but it's just what I think.

oh dear, I'm sorry if I sounded insensitive, I didn't see the end of your post there.

I'm a more intense type of person (as many kinda figure by my posts lol) - so -- but that's what makes the world go around, right?
And I'm pretty sure that stuff I like, you wouldn't like.
thanks for not taking offense, I didn't mean any to anyone.
 :sorry:

Oh, no offense taken. And I'm not sure about not liking the stuff you would. I have a pretty broad range of likes. So, it's possible we could share some of the same interests in like music and all. To be honest, my sister liked it first and then I gradually started liking it. I mean, you're right it is kinda lame, but I kinda like some lame things, lol. I think it's good to be as passionate about things as you seem to be. It's better to be intense than lacking any emotion at all, don't you think? And no, you didn't sound insenstive at all.

Hey, I DO like some real simple 80's tunes! lol I loved that song w/ the fone number 867-5309 lol
I thought some of the veggie tale tunes were cute. :holy:

(I do love Christian cartoon stuff - for some real wierd reason, I get more out of the cartoons than the movies.
I just watch a few scenes in them & they make me cry becuz I think it's so beautiful to see the Lord in that light; simplified.)

So, simple IS very good too!

In my opinion, it's just a fun song, hitching off cartoon personalities that kids would appreciate.

It's all praise of God, and it encourages the young to do so. I don't see blasphemy there.
