Had a strange & powerful dream last night. My 3 year old daughter was an infant, we were left to wait in a pickup truck while my mechanic fiance, Chip, talked shop with an auto parts guy...next to us was a calm talking white tiger, he was very protective of my daughter, but was unsure of my safety...we were both unsure it seemed. He held no ill will towards me, but it seemed as if he might have to extinguish me, as politely & gently as possible, but only if absolutely necessary. I felt deep assurance he would continue to protect my daughter. It was a big empty lot, except for a few well used work trucks and a tall steel building with no windows & only one door on the backside, out of sight. Chip, went in, a dusty warm wind blew across the lot. The windows were down, but it was still slightly stuffy. My daughter was laying on the bench seat between the tiger and me, sleeping. Little beads of sweat glistened in her short downy baby hair. It seemed like the tiger & I had done this once before and I had survived, but this time might be different & it seemed to depend on how long we were left to wait for Chip's return. Getting out of the truck was not an option. Then I woke up! Any thoughts?

My wife had a dream about a limping white tiger. Later, I realized the limp was fake and was pointing to "Verbal" in the "Usual Suspects"... which in turn points somewhere else.

Tiger... points to danger. Like a lion. A tiger can symbolize good or bad. Some people take tigers into their homes and treat them like pets. A white tiger, I think it was, attacked a famous 'lion tamer' not long ago.

In life, sometimes people do evil, treating people like pets, like objects, dehumanizing them in their own hearts... thinking "God does not see me". Nothing bad happens to them, so they persist in this unbelief.

God feeds them, clothes them, prepares a meal for them, and patiently does them good. They sublimate their guilt. It becomes itself like a wild animal deep in their unconscious.

I do not think this is your case, but just saying. Maybe you are the tiger. Maybe this speaks of someone else, or some other situation.

Dream tigers may be dangerous and certainly show something with the capacity to be dangerous but, as CoG97 sometimes says, look for the metaphor.

Is your fiance by chance a big guy? Maybe the message is that you and your kid are protected by a "huge cat." Or perhaps the tiger symbolizes your own strong maternal instinct. (Ever see even a normal size kitty react when her kittens are threatened?)

Do a little free associating with the word and image "tiger" and see what you come up with; and keep your eye out for felines of any sort in future dreams.

If this had been my dream, I'd be looking at it as a good one.

My fiance is not a big man, he is thin and average height. I'm thinking it may have something to do with the fact that he is a workaholic. 6 days a week, then odd jobs on Sunday and when he comes home, he sits in his vehicle for about an hour to wind down, then goes to work on some project out in his shop. Comes in for dinner, then right back out til bedtime, maybe watches an hour of tv then to sleep. My only chance to see him really, is if I sit out in the shop with him. Doesn't want help and many times we get in petty arguments usually involving my desire to do some project of my own that he feels I should wait for him to get around to because he could do a better job, even though when we met, I was a very capable Miss Fixit and he used to drop everything to spend at least an hour with me everyday.

I have no idea if there is any truth in this or not, but here is what I WOULD see in this:

Sitting in a truck - living during tribulation
White Tiger - God's protection
Infant daughter - your spirit inside of you, born of God
God will protect your spirit for sure, but as far as your body, that's questionable
It depends on how long the tribulation will last (cannot get out of it, cannot get out of the truck)
Waiting for Chip's return - waiting for our Heavenly Fiancee's return, Jesus Christ
Getting hot in the truck - it sure will get "hot" during tribulation

Just in case you're not confused enough, Dawnikki, I'm going to take a different approach. (Keep in mind that we're all amateurs here. All we can do is help you decide what a dream means.)

Just as in waking life, Chip has left you and is "in the shop." You and your daughter are left to yourselves. This tendency we men have to focus on our work and to smooth out silently with a hobby or craftwork can be a real "lurking tiger": a relationship killer. I think the dream may be telling you that you two need to face this situation before you head down the aisle.

Keep in mind: dream tigers can be tamed! And you say this one is obviously quite protective of your kid. And perhaps also of your "infant" (newly born) relationship. In hard times like this, a lot of people are working six and seven days a week. He may not have any real choice. Sitting in the truck and going to the shop may be his way of handling stress: men tend to shut up when they're stressed and tired.

So, it's not as though you or your relationship are now in danger; but the potential for danger is there.

Thank you for all your replies...after days of retrospect, with your thoughts and mine, I think the white tiger very well maybe my own spirit. Daughter is always safe, the tiger was in the drivers seat. Seems to say, no matter if he comes back or not, there is strength and protection...no use getting out and looking for him, must stay strong. I am starving of affection and know for certain another man is NOT the answer, yet I lie strarving of affection, it is my lot and I must carry on with or without him in my life. My pure intentioned white tiger is positioned to pounce (say goodbye and live a life of celibacy) if necessary, with the welfare of our daughter at the forefront.I do not hate him. He is wonderful and a mechanical genious, but he's not funny, spiritual or deep. I want to stay out of honor, but I am dying a little more every day inside.

With Christ there is always hope for the future.

Can I encourage you see Jesus in your dream somewhere. He is invisible, but there. Imagine Him there in the truck with you. Where exactly is He? What is He doing? What is He saying?

Matt 28:20 ... surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.

Heb 13:5 ..Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.

You are the disciple whom Jesus loves.

It can be hard when a couple is young and the husband feels he has to work all the time. Try and persuade him with some activity you both like to spend more time with him. His hard work will pay off, however, in the long run and later years he will have more time with you.

If you were to imagine this dream beyond the personal realm, a white tiger is rare and comes from India. They are considered precious by many. They are usually solitary, but care well for their young.

My 3 year old daughter was an infant,

A project, organization, region you (your country/organization) were protective of. This setting shows a time of its infancy, or a state of less independence from you. Vulnerability.

we were left to wait in a pickup truck while my mechanic fiance, Chip, talked shop with an auto parts guy...next to us was a calm talking white tiger, he was very protective of my daughter, but was unsure of my safety...we were both unsure it seemed. He held no ill will towards me, but it seemed as if he might have to extinguish me, as politely & gently as possible, but only if absolutely necessary.

Picture anyone you have met from India, any dealings you have had... a tendency to be very polite, sweet, courteous, and sensible.

I am not trying to push this possible interpretation, but will just play it out through the post so you can consider it.

I felt deep assurance he would continue to protect my daughter.

Trust that operations based there, economic trades, manufacturing plants, services arranged would operate smoothly.

It was a big empty lot,

Much potential for growth

except for a few well used work trucks and a tall steel building with no windows & only one door on the backside, out of sight.

Long centuries of experience, but not as much to show for it as we would expect. Lack of doors could show limits on their ability to trade with other countries, hindering their growth.

Chip, went in, a dusty warm wind blew across the lot. The windows were down, but it was still slightly stuffy.
Staunch beliefs may slow progress down, make people weary.

In any culture, there are good and bad attitudes, things that hinder and help people succeed. Often religious or social traditions impose tougher treatment on individuals, wearing them down and making free breathing difficult.

My daughter was laying on the bench seat between the tiger and me, sleeping. Little beads of sweat glistened in her short downy baby hair.

Sweat releases toxins and salts from the body, occurs when we have worked or are overheated. In the dream you see the contrast of gentle soft innocence and being tired from work or heat or a long day.

If your daughter represents something you have birthed, you see that she has worn herself out, and have sympathy and appreciation for her... see her efforts as good.

It seemed like the tiger & I had done this once before and I had survived, but this time might be different & it seemed to depend on how long we were left to wait for Chip's return. Getting out of the truck was not an option.

A vehicle is a mode of operation, a way that people move forward in control. You were dependent on Chip, waiting, and stuck under someone else's decisions. They were not evil, but you were hindered from moving freely.

Here's how I would see Jesus in your dream....

Jesus is sitting between you and the tiger with your daughter lying peacefully in His lap. One of Jesus arms is resting on your back with His hand on your shoulder and with His other hand, Jesus is petting the tiger.

You look at the beads of sweat glistening your daugher's short downy baby hair and you notice that they seem to be shrinking- there are. After the last one evaporates, Jesus gently brushes her hair with the hand He was using the pet the tiger, and then He returns to petting the tiger. For a period of time Jesus just sits there quietly. The tiger is silent in His presence. You become aware of a tightness which had been in your tummy. It feels like a clock spring tightly wound up. But the protracted quietness in His presence has been allowing the spring to unwind.

You lean forward slightly to survery the tiger. His sheer size & the sharpness of his teeth does make Him a an object of fear. Despite his polite conversation & white exterior, he is still a tiger. You lean back again. Your mind clicks. You have the feeling that something about the tiger has changed. You lean forward again to survery this animal. Is he slightly smaller or is that your imagination? No it must be your imagination. Jesus continues petting the tiger.

Something about Jesus arm on your shoulder seems to be drawing you in closer to Him. You don't feel any pressure from His arm, it is just "happening". You remember the clock spring in your tummy, but there is now no tightness, it is fully unwound. Jesus had been looking straight ahead, but now you sense He is turning towards you. He pauses petting the tiger, which you are now sure is getting smaller, and takes His hand & gently cups it around your cheek. You want to look into His face, but somehow struggle to raise your head. Jesus brushes your cheek with the thumb of His hand & you find the courage to raise your head. You feel a gentle fresh breeze coming through the pickup window displacing the prevalent stuffiness. You feel a warmth like the warmth of the sun radiating from His face. But it is not a physical warmth, it is an emotional warmth. You feel tears starting to well up from deep inside - tears of releif, tears of release. Your eyes now behold His face. You receive a full dose of the love eminating from Him. You feel His love entering your body like a medicine briging healing.

Jesus says "Don't be afraid. Just believe". You hear the word "Believe" ringing in your ears. It echos into the corridors of your mind. Without fading it continues down into the basement and breaches the gap between the mind and the heart. The wellspring of life sakes, bulges & bursts forth hope from the eternal spring. It gushes up, washing & cleansing on its way. You feel it irradiating your face, renewing your countenance.

Jesus arm which was resting on your shoulder is now embracing you. You feel a new sense of strength, life & hope not only in your soul, but also your body. You enjoy the moment for as long as you can stand the intensity of His love and then You rest back into the pickup bench again continuing to enjoy the lingering emotional warmth, remembering that image of His face.

You look over to where the tiger was sitting. A white cat is now there. As you consider how small the cat is, you notice it is really a kitten. Jesus asks you "What happened to the tiger?". You answer, "It's gone". While Jesus is leaning toowards the door, He looks towards the tall steel building where Chip is & calls quitely "Chip". You think to yourself, "How can chip possibly hear that from within the steel building?". Jesus looks back at you and smiles and then leans over and opens the pickup door. The kitten takes its opportunity and jumps out.

The moment the pickup door completes opening, there is a rustling sound and then a door slam coming from the back of the steel building. Chip now appears on the side of the building, walking slowly but with motivation and what you almost discern as a determination. He has something like a large magazine in his hand and he is heading towards the pickup! Without seeing Jesus, he arrives, jumps in, closes the door, and gives you and your daughter a kiss hello. Just as you obsevre that the book in Chip's hand is a maintenance manual for the pickup, Chip tosses it on the dashboard & turns the pickup key in the ignition barrel.

It's like he had never been away.

The pickup engine roars into life, Chip clunks the gear lever into 1st, the back wheels skid slightly in the gravel and dust & you drive off down the road together. Jesus looks at you, winks, and disappeares again.
