Since it is blessed, the ashes are to be treated like any sacramental.

As for the disposing of it, my Parish puts any overflow of ashes into the plants, that way it goes into the ground with all living things.

Ya'all don't laugh or be angry at me... I still have our Palm branches from years ago and they are collecting...I accidentally threw some away the first year that we converted... I didn't know that they were sacramental and that there was a proper way of disposing them...

I'll need to check with my priest to see what he recommends. My husband did tell me not to throw them away ever again and that we were to keep them. He probably did explain more to me...but it probably had gone over my head at the time.

God's Peace,

D'Ann

My friend's grandmother accidentally threw away their collection of blessed branches. She has slight dimentia and thought it was rubbish.

I also have a collection of tried blessed branches D'Ann. Just can't seem to remember to bring them to church when they are collected. We collect them several weeks before the planned burning of ashes and old lists of Mass intentions, which is usually the Sunday before Ash Wednesday.

I think my palm branch that's hanging on my crucifix is just as old. Just can't seem to rmember to bring my old palms when I'm suppose to.

Believe it or not, I have Holy Water from the last 10 Eater Vigils. I guess I should distribute it around the place. :)

Thanks krstlros, I'm glad that I'm not the only one who still has old palms around...

I don't have dimentia though...not that I know of...so far...LOL :) I'm still a bit too young still for dimentia...I don't have any excuse at all for what I did the first year...other than stupidity or ignorance... LOL :)

God's Peace,

D'Ann
