Birds singing at night

Oh my gosh, there are some really LOUD birds that have been singing at night lately just outside my window. I did an Internet search, and apparently some birds (robins, mockingbirds) are known to sing at night during breeding season.

They are unbelievably loud, though. I love animals, but in all honesty -- I'd like to throw a slipper at them just about now! ^_^

Chirping all night would probably annoy most anyone. It always seems odd when you wake up and think it's the morning because you're hearing birds singing and it's 2 am.

But you know what else is annoying? Crickets chirping in your bedroom at night.

Now that's creepy. :help:

Yeah, I've had a cricket in my room, and mosquitos. I can only hope the cricket found a way out because it stopped chirping after awhile.

The thing about the birds is exactly as you say, FJD, CW. It's just confusing when they're chirping away like it's daytime. One the Internet, I saw that there was a study done and researchers found that some birds in urban areas switched to nighttime singing because of the noise during the day -- it was too much.

Never had a skunk trying to get in, CW, but did have raccoons fearlessly rooting around in a garbage can once. It didn't even back off when I opened the back door and shouted at it.

I think it's adorable to hear birds singing in the middle of the night. Of course, I adore birds, so I'm probably a little lax in my ability to scold their habits lol.

Speaking of animals making noise in the house...I once had mice in my dresser. They'd be up all night partying in there - *scritch scratch, scrabble, shuffle*. When I couldn't stand it anymore, I'd BANG my hand on the dresser, and they'd be shocked into silence for a few minutes. Then they'd start all over again, lol.

I used to have a cockatiel who would climb incessantly around the bars of his cage during the night. Anyone who has owned a parrot knows that hollow ringing sound their claws make on the bars when they climb...UGGHHH he just wouldn't stop and sit still!!! I mean, how big was the cage? He'd go up and down, up and down, up and down...drove me nuts.
