Can you guys help me by giving me some bible verses on the subject of God awakening our spirit, bringing us back to life, opening our eyes, stirring us from our sleep. Things like this. Thanks!
1 Thessalonians 5:19 Quench not the Spirit.
Galatians 5:16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.
Ephesians 5:8-14 For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light: (For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth

Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord. And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them. For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret. But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever doth make manifest is light. Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light.
Satan has designed the world to lull Christians into a slumbering accommodation and become de-facto "enemies".
James 4:4 Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.
To walk in the Spirit, we have to walk in truth. This means we have to intentionally reject those things of the world to which we have not only grown attached, but that we even defend and support. Here is a partial list of worldly things that many Christians will never be able to even consider as harmful;
Evolution
Insurance
Education
Psychology
Birth control
The ability to see truth is a result of abiding in the word.
John 8:31-32 So Jesus said to those Jews who had believed in Him, If you abide in My word [hold fast to My teachings and live in accordance with them], you are truly My disciples. And you will know the Truth, and the Truth will set you free.
To "abide" or to live in the Word carries with it a passion far beyond reading an occasional verse.
Proverbs 2:1-11 MY SON, if you will receive my words and treasure up my commandments within you, Making your ear attentive to skillful and godly Wisdom and inclining and directing your heart and mind to understanding [applying all your powers to the quest for it]; Yes, if you cry out for insight and raise your voice for understanding, If you seek [Wisdom] as for silver and search for skillful and godly Wisdom as for hidden treasures, Then you will understand the reverent and worshipful fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of [our omniscient] God. For the Lord gives skillful and godly Wisdom; from His mouth come knowledge and understanding. He hides away sound and godly Wisdom and stores it for the righteous (those who are upright and in right standing with Him); He is a shield to those who walk uprightly and in integrity, That He may guard the paths of justice; yes, He preserves the way of His saints. Then you will understand righteousness, justice, and fair dealing [in every area and relation]; yes, you will understand every good path. For skillful and godly Wisdom shall enter into your heart, and knowledge shall be pleasant to you. Discretion shall watch over you, understanding shall keep you,
There was a movie called "An Officer and a Gentleman" in which there was a scene where a drill instructor was harassing an officer candidate to get him to drop out of the training program. The candidate was tenaciously refusing. When asked why he didn't drop out, he cried out, "It's all I have". The implication was that any hope he had for a prosperous future was based on his completion of the training.
We as Christians do not have much enthusiasm much less passion for our Savior. As a result, we see our religious life as just a part of the fabric of the wider world. We do not live in His word because we have already established our "residence" in the world run by Satan.
We do not see anything wrong with the world, much less hate it.
Jesus asked when He returned would He find faith in the world. In context, He was not referring to the standard, "I believe in Jesus" declaration, but the plaintive crying out of the woman to the unjust judge.
Our apparent prosperity and comfort may not be so much a blessing from God that many suppose, but rather a suborning soporific to dull the minds of Christians and get us to accept and even fight to maintain our worldly comforts at the expense of truth.
Jesus stands at the door and knocks. The problem is not that God has failed to stir our spirits, but that we do not want to hear the knock.
