Beards are the most glorious and magnificent sign of manhood.

I like a little bit of facial hair on my guys, but not much. A long beard is scratchy and hard to cuddle against.

Leviticus 19.27 seems to say, Don't trim your beard.

(Leviticus 19.28 says about no cutting for the dead, or printing marks.)

I wonder, though, if contextually it applies today? in any case. The New Testament believer is not a Jew in the land under the law, but rather a heavenly citizen under grace.

I confess. I've been tempted to shave, but your flawless beardlogic has convinced me to abstain.
Same here. What kicked me over the fence to keep the beard is that it's finally looking really good... and I don't want to bother with a few months of lily-livered growth again. :p

I can only grow a goatee.

I hate being clean shaven..
Your goatee suited you, Josh.

It depends on your interpretation. Some believe the Christian is still bound by the Mosaic Law, and others believe Christ's crucifixion frees us from following the Law.

My beard cycle usually only lasts for a few weeks at a time. At first it's nice, then impressive, and eventually a bit on the scraggly and scratchy side, at which point I shave, and it's a relief but kind of shameful at the same time. I haven't yet mustered up the courage to cross the full beard barrier.

What happens then? I'm a little nervous that I could lose my job and frighten small people.

Too many people that the context of that verse as in they cannot trim their beard at all.

And Mephibosheth the son of Saul came down to meet the king. He had neither taken care of his feet nor trimmed his beard nor washed his clothes, from the day the king departed until the day he came back in safety.
- 2 Samuel 19:24

The context of this verse shows that Mephibosheth not trimming his beard was in a negative way, unless you want to look at dirty feet and unwashed clothes as a positive thing? lol

I am a beard enthusiast myself and you have to take care of a beard for sure, not to say it has to be shorter, but just looked after. Nothing worse then it looking like a birds nest. lol.

Wow... You could lose your job by having a beard? What is this world coming to.

That's really interesting... The texture of your beard hair might have something to do with this progression. My hair is somewhat curly, so even though a hair from my beard is about four inches, my beard doesn't look too impressive since everything is so compacted.

I haven't been clean shaven in almost six years, I'm afraid to see what's underneath it all and/or that I'll look like a teenager again. I let it grow for about a month from mid-April to mid-May, it was pretty righteous. I don't have any beard oil though so I wasn't taking proper care of it, it started getting itchy and gross so I trimmed it back. It's kind of dumb to grow out a beard though when it's 100°+ outside, come winter this baby's getting thick again.

That's the fourth-generation Irish in me coming through :D That's also probably why I love potatoes a little too much.

Ahh...so your little leprechaun roots are showing, eh? :p Scottish for us. Lol. ...Yeah, my bro's hair is like a dark blonde, but his beard grows dark red. It's hilarious.

I wish I could look good with your beard. Whenever I grow it, it just looks weird on me. I guess I'm best suited for a goatee.

Yeah, some guys do look best with a goatee. You definitely do. That's how my bro-in-law (Jeremy) is.
