About 18 hours there, and about 16 hours back---we are home again!!! And really glad we went!!
Dr. Frim does not see the syrinx that we were told she had---add that to the list of mis-diagnosis!!
He wants to watch her for now--work with local docs here (if I can find some who will work with him)--and see her again in June. He did not recommend surgery at this time. He would rather see her medically (medication) managed. We are also going to try massage therapy--I have a close friend who is a therapist, and will teach me how to do proper massages to ease her spasms.
He also wants a neuro-urodynamic study done. Maybe she could benifit from DDAVP is the working theory for the time being. The test will determine if she could benefit.
We are canceling the surgery with Dr. Sklar. My husband and I neither were content with Dr. Sklar because we just could never get straight answers from him. Most answers we did get were rather flippant. All he did to examine her was to run a sharp object up her foot--then recommended surgery.
I heard many stories from people in the Ronald McDonald house who had surgery from another doctor first--and had problems. Now they see Dr. Frim and are happy there.
