74. About what I expected.

It's my understanding that Machiavelli said that certain actions are more permissible when taken as the head of a government than when taken as an individual. If I'm wrong about this, someone will disabuse me.

your right Machiavelli, established the basis that its the ends not the means that counts, that being that socio expected things such as truthfullness and the soci-moral expectations can be thrown out the window, if it is the means to the end result. ( I.E. Modern politics)

Well, maybe not: instead of answering how I wish the world was, or how I would like for it to be, I answered how I think the world actually is.

My score was 98.

Ultra, ultra, ultra, ultra high Mach.

(Answering the questions with how I wish the world really was or how I would like for it to be, I ended up with a score of 56.)

That's what I did, Uber. Answered with how I think the world really is. Though it surprises me how you managed to get such a high score. I doubt the world is really THAT bad. But maybe that's just me. I do have a 'healthy' amount of cynicism in me though.

I wonder if there is a cultral problem here or if I dont understand what machiavelli was trying to say.

Machiavelli never really impressed me. What he said was useful I guess, but it's pretty much common sense if you've got a good brain in you.

Isn't it funny that every person you see as some Machiavellian schemer, probably sees you the same way? Philosophers already noted that one too.

Of course, I knew the basic laws of physics without ever being taught them. They just made sense. Perhaps that's a result of the culture we're brought up in. What took Newton years to prove, took me a little bit of thought and ooh! The result of that effect is that I know a lot of people taking calculas in their junior year of high school. Something my parents didn't take until college.

I got a 79 for my opinions. I'm a jaded cynic and I'm only 21 years old.
