Yeah I had this too. We had a day out and you could have an owl sit on your hand, but I didn't want to at first. Such nonsense, it's just an animal and it's not unclean anymore.

Well I've never had owl meat. I don't think I would order it though.

Does this look evil to you?

Okay, maybe. :p

Owls are God's creation. They're not any more evil than other animals.

I was raised to believe this. The basis for this belief was that owls are only referred to negatively in the Bible as part of pagan worship.

Sidenote: Even to this day I have an aversion to owl figurines.

Beautiful animals, almost totally silent in flight. The Great Horned Owl steals the Red Tail hawks nest and makes it their own. We live on a small farm and unfortunately provide a lot of the owl's food for them. We raise ducks and chickens, no chickens any more.... but all animals need to eat.
We have had the opportunity to watch them raise their young... it is fascinating. The male and female take turns and if your out around their nest they watch you ... the young answer when you hoot to them... so cute. All white - the parents take them out and teach them how to walk up and down the limbs of the tree until they are ready to fly. Where we live people come from all over with telescopes to check on them daily... great fun watching the people watch the owls too

So obviously we know no creature by itself is evil/bad. Nothing God created.

With that said, the owl got its idol history from being the symbol for Molech - the demon creature that led people to smash and kill their young for sacrifice, and drink blood. Molech is Saturn/(K)Cronos/Baal/Golden Calf. His statue was a giant bull that had a opened pot belly where a fire would burn - the fire the people put their children in to sacrifice. Kronos' statue was similar, and there was always loud music of flutes and things playing to mask the screams of the children. Molech is represented by an owl because of an owl's association with wisdom, and being able to see everything.

Molech's counterpart was the fertility goddess Ashteroth; her cult following history was borrowed by Aphrodite cult worshipers. Ashteroth is also Ishtar (where we get the name Easter from.) Celebrators of Easter are actually giving homage to this Mesopotamian goddess's fertility ceremonies of killing babies for sacrifice, and drinking blood. The bunny represents fertility, as do the eggs (bunnies don't lay eggs; they are mammals.) The eggs are painted because it represents the blood, guts and fluids that would spill on the babies when they are sacrificed (this is why they are painted bright colors - most often reds or purples.)

These entities are the same entities who show up in every culture all over the world masquerading as something divine and worthy of worship. They don't even change their game. Molech in the Hebrew days was doing the same junk Cronos did in Greece. Ashteroth/Aphrodite are the same with the same functions. I guess you don't fix it if it ain't broke.

I do not think that Owls are evil, but my favorite animal is discussed as being in sheep's clothing and has long been regarded as an animal that needs to be killed, especially in the states where they were almost completely eradicated in the lower 48.

That would be Canis Lupus or the wolf.

For me, they exemplify what commitment to your spouse really means. They mate for life and are an example to what marriage should be.

Will he land on your hand or tear your eyes out? Tough call.
