A reminder for everyone to calm down.

Whatever burden a man has across thy shoulder. Surely another boulder can wait?
Are we of the earth, not patient? Are we not?
Atlas man. Calm. Calm down.
Rest your neck and back and legs, take a rest upon a log or stone or bough.
For it is now.
We deserve rest. Not an hibernation, but something similar in the spectral visage, like a flower closing for the winter. Or the yapping of a winter hound? Or a human soul unbound, a chopping of logge or an gathering profound?
For it is now.
With rest, we find within our deepest of sleeps, a hint of a dream.
Remember.
Just remember. To be calm in all your earthly doings.
Don't steal or harm.
Just remember.

Not actually my poem, but something I found inscribed on the walls of a guesthouse I once stayed in, in the Luberon Regional Natural Park (Gordes).
It rang a bell at the time, but also made an impact.
I found it funny at the time it was written, or at least chipped into the beams in English.
Now in my fleeting memories, wonder who did inscribe it?
My father jotted it down and later handed it to me when we were celebrating an old holiday, nearby, a few years later.
And today it is shared.
Apparently there's photos on the guesthouse pages.
(But yeah, I hope it makes a difference!)

I went back and re-visited the old place a few months ago but someone had seemingly apparently plastered over it. All the same it was a very nice day out, despite it being cold. Maybe, one day someone will scratch the plaster away and find that old poem on those old beams.
